So basically still...no one has any idea when or even if this thing is gonna happen. A shame. It's not the fans fault. It was how business was conducted by the artist and management.
Umm, as getxxxx posted above:
via billboard 1/9/17
"long-promised expanded edition of the Purple Rain album, which the source says has been completed and is expected to be released by summer if not sooner."
[Edited 1/13/17 6:57am]
unofficial statements from unknown sources confirms nothing. |

Prince and WB publicly came to an agreement. And then some months later, Prince discovers he is not payed enough ? . And what is odd is that nothing ever filtrated from the bonus track he was supposed to gave them. Even after his death...If prince gave them something, many people would have bragged about it.
Prince was well known for signing deal and mùaking fusses afterwards about the deal being bad, you know how he could be. He didn't want to be obligated in any way to WB, he signed to get his masters back because that was his priority, then gave them hell for 2 years about everything else. At least that would be typical Prince.
earlier).
So we both agree on this one. I don't know my post are taken in a too controversial way ? Because people who disagree here with me, answer in fact the same thing than me. |

I agree with Thunder though, as with the post-93 WB releases you tend to assume too much IMHO. Your theories are plausible, but not verified. I see where you're coming from, but the flaw in your reasoning is that you usually turn the non-existence of something into the existence of something else (I'm not sure I'm being clear ), which makes the affirmation impossible to verify in any case.
So, say simply what is your theory about the fact that his material post 1993 can't be printed by anybody (for instance : GOLD for WB, MUSICOLOGY for Sony, 3121 for Universal) ?
Are they waiting Prince to die a second time to capitalize on it ?
Are they thinking the album market to be bigger in five years ?

I do not understand why above you say WB can't use the videos? Hopefully the rerelease will be associated with the videos being uploaded on WB's YT channel or an official Prince estate account, I don't see why this couldn't happen. earlier).
When Prince "signed " again with Wb in 2014, it was disclosed at the time that the videos were not included in the deal. Only the music.
That explains why 4EVER couldn't be released among a new video collection of his WB hits.
As an other instance, WB couldn't use the PURPLE RAIN or BATMAN videos in THE HITS.

From the beginning I was ever only talking about WB albums. Why bring up Musicology and 3121? |

Interesting. So that means WB has to licence music videos from the estate or that the estate must create their own YT channel? I don't see this as a major setback. Now videos that include WB films material may indeed need a little more clearance. |

. Oh for crying out loud, his death has COMPLICATED things. Oh for crying out loud, dor you have to say for crying out loud everytime. For crying out loud. Prince's catalogue is a pretty complicated project involving many labels. There may be a time when a deal is struck that brings everything together or possibly the owners of Musicology might not see huge potential sales for these Albums mow. |

Because 4EVER could have involved even tracks from Musicology and 3121. Like they did with Bowie, george Michael, MJ, best of including more than one major companies. |
