Lenka Paris records nearly 6 hours of "Purple" mixes for Paisley Park

Lenka Paris wrapped up the recording of nearly 6 hours of "purple" mixes for the Paisley Park Museum.

Those going on Paisley Park tours will soon get to enjoy them.

Check out her posting on Instagram regarding the amazing experience she had making the mixes:

Why would people visiting PP want to hear remixes? As opposed to album cuts, unreleased songs & live versions? Or is this in response to Brother Jules?... because nobody is buying his wanky remixes.

Something is going to be playing at some point. And to change up a song and make a remix makes the experience unexpected and different. Album cuts are good of course, but they aren't going to pull out a live version of a song, or an unreleased song when they are probably planning on releasing that stuff to purchase later on. You can't give away the whole thing and expect people to then purchase it too.

Jules is such a misnomer at this point. No one's reacting to him by doing six hours of mixes, believe me. I'm spending six hours at a time trying to ignore his idiocy. hahaha

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

How would playing a song you can't buy or illegally download over the sound system @PP hurt future sales of that song? It's not like Prince didn't have plenty of released remixes either.

I'm somewhat curious to hear them, but it's weird that they're going to be playing posthumous remixes rather than his actual music during tours.

I really think people are overreacting. Has anyone heard these yet? Her instragram post says they're mixes - not "remixes." So they're most likely the digital equivalent of the old-school mix tape - songs put together in sequence with a bit of overlap so the sound is seamless (i.e., no fades in or out, or jarring rhythmic changes, as songs begin and end).

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

That was my thought. It's background music, basically, for the museum tour. Beats Musak (sp).

Purple Muzak? (Pun intended.)

If you haven't been on the tour, in some of the different themed rooms they have tvs with Prince videos from that era playing. They are all on mute. I don't think Prince would like that. In studios A they play a little bit of Ruff Enuff and a new song from those sessions. They need to crank that shit up and play it like it should be played...LOUD. Nothing was being played in Studio B. The soundstage they are showing live videos, but again this volume is pretty low. I don't recall any music being played in the L4OA/NPGMC room either. If they really want people to know what it was like with Prince in there, they need to be playing his music and loud.

They should play all of "Paisley Park" as the opening & welcoming song in the lobby as guests are getting ready for the experience.

So unless something has changed, I was at PP on the first day and they were playing all kinds of Prince music - well known and otherwise - all throughout the place. I'm not sure if that stopped or what, but I thought it was cool to be hearing CB tracks like Moviestar mixed in with all the usual suspects.

U can be the side effect, I'd rather be the dope.

Check out what DJ Lenka Paris posted on Instagram today about her spinning at tonight's AfterDark event.

"I will be spinning the funk at Paisley Park this evening. Tho it won't be the same without Prince being there, hanging out, playing ping pong or hopping on stage and jamming all night, I will do my best to give people who perhaps haven't experienced a Friday night Paisley party a glimpse of how we used to get down. I love you Prince, this one's for you 💜 #paisleyparkafterdark #funk #love #mpls"
