Why? This is just terrible and wrong on so many levels!! mad

.

I'm very sad for Manuela and very sad for Prince because he is gone and would not approve of this!!

.

Personally, I don't care to see it. They got divorced and that's all we need to know! SMDH disbelief

I would rather it not be released as well. Divorces (even the most amicable ones) always make people look bad. The problem is that if you google Prince that week, the details of the records will pop up in reprinted stories (no doubt out of context). I just hope they are extremely boring and mundane so that the Tribune won't be able to use them for anything.

Divorces always look bad. What if Prince was cheap or adulterous or violent or whatever? I don't think he was violent but who the hell knows? I would rather live in ignorant bliss about this. We all know that he wasn't a saint but delving into it with intimate details SUCKS>

According to the StarTrib, the file really doesn't contain much information, other than financials. We will probably learn just how big a settlement Mani walked away with in the divorce. My sources tell me that it is much more than has been widely believed. Perhaps there is even information about other potential heirs.

Exactly. I think that you and either Rogifan, (correct me if I'm wrong), or some other member has been trying to get people to understand for months that it's doubtful that the case contains anything salacious and I'm inclined to agree.

That's why I don't understand the OP's nervousness. I don't believe this will be some earth shaking event.

I don't think it's a bad thing. It's usually a matter of public record anyway. In my home state, you can go online and search for someone and see any court case they've had, and often times view PDFs of documents.

Prince was human like the rest of us, and he had to handle business situations like a marriage and a divorce. I don't know why anyone would be nervous about how Prince and Mayte or Manuella handled their business. Is it because the viewer's idea of Prince is going to be spoiled? The truth is the truth, no matter where you find it.

I'm curious to see it. There are six marriage and five divorced between my parents, so seeing how others handled their mess interests me.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

This is just so upsetting. Prince does not deserve this. Mani was his wife and whatever happened between them is their business! They both wanted the files to remain private for a reason.

.

Just more bad news on top of already bad news! mad

I agree. I think this has to do with "financials" and nothing else. Mani even gave a statement to the Judge saying that the divorce papers have nothing to do with Prince's death, which suggests to me that she did not file for divorce because of his "supposed" drug use.

THanks for this article. It sounds mild but why the hell does the Tribune even want to see it if it is so mild? Are they just fishing or something?

OMG, Rabbit, get a hold of yourself hun! lol lol lol

Seriously, stoppit.

I work for the gub'ment and as I and many other members have said before, the vast majority of divorces are public record. A sealed divorce file is the exception, not the rule. Divorce records have to be sealed by court order and it is not uncommon for them to be unsealed. Ask Bill Cosby.

Furthermore, it would be very unusual for an uncontested divorce file to contain salacious allegations of wrongdoing toward either party.

I agree that I really don't need to know any of this but rest assured that it's probably pretty routine stuff.

Maybe it won't be made public, but who knows?!

.

It's just sad because Prince has been gone, 8-months today, and Mani certainly does not need this! Haven't we all had enough heartbreak? They got divorced -- we know this! Why make things worse?

I know I don't....

Prince has crossed and Manuela has moved on. They should both be kept in peace especially when she keeps a low profile these days.

Not nervous at all to see this. Since it's usually public record, I'm not seeing it as a big deal really. I'd rather read about this than a certain other story that will be coming out next April.

This is one too many misuse of certain privileges given to a certain position. When people complain, evidence is snapshot and documented, petition is being signed, I truly believe justice can be done. wink

I seriously hope that people will calm down. This article explains the reason why divorces and other court proceedings are usually a matter of public record in a open society such as we have in the US. This is how our system works...there is nothing unusual about it.

http://m.startribune.com/judge-orders-prince-s-divorce-records-unsealed/407814536/

Judge orders unsealing of Prince's divorce records

By EMMA NELSON , STAR TRIBUNE December 21, 2016 - 5:14 PM
+ Prince's 2006 divorce from Manuela Testolini will soon be open for public inspection, after a Hennepin County District Judge issued an order Wednesday unsealing nearly the entire file.

Still, whether tranquil or not, court records in Minnesota are typically public — and celebrity divorces are no exception.
"While most parties to a divorce would prefer that the details be kept private, the divorce process is a public one, requiring public courts and resources to manage the proceeding and either determine or approve the result as a just and equitable one," Fraser wrote. "The public has an interest in monitoring courts and their enforcement of divorce decrees."

Exactly. I assumed from the start that this would be to do with the financial settlement which is why M contested it so strongly, fearing it makes her look greedy. I never for a minute thought she was trying to protect P's privacy. Having said that, do we really need to know? It's nobody else's business.

Harassment is scary especially when you have two little ones you try and protect. There has been instances of dangerous incidents caused by hardcore fans. We need to take into consideration that even though we dislike someone, we also have a duty to protect them and their family as human beings. Judges should consider the safety of all stakeholders and I really hope he has thought of the consequences the release of the divorce could bring about. sad

Lol, people need to get a grip in my opinion, life is what it is. Every time something comes up, there seems to be this big freakout over it. People need to stop looking for reasons to be angry, upset, overwrought and so on and so on. And of course this news comes on the anniversary. It's interesting how every month something is released that usually causes upset.
