Prince also supported Taja’s philanthropic endeavors. While Taja recorded Toys of Vanity in Detroit, she began to see the amount of poverty due to job loss in the city as well as the excess amount of unused land. In 2005, she founded Urban Farming™, a 501c3 with the mission to “Create an Abundance of Food for All in Our Generation.” Prince helped to support the charity from the beginning. The organization began by planting 3 gardens of free food in Detroit and there are now over 63,400 gardens in 61 countries around the world that are a part of the Urban Farming Global Food Chain®. Prince donated a portion of his perfume sales to Urban Farming and did a benefit concert for the organization in New York.

Shot at various points across the globe (including Mecca), the three-hour biopic of the slain civil rights leader reached theaters in its intended form only after celebrities including Bill Cosby, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, and Prince helped defray financing costs in the wake of Warner Bros. mandate that Lee trim the film's running time by half an hour.

An undisclosed amount went to a Young womans Empowerment Movement called "Where my Girl At"

$50,000 went to help the people who suffered during the West River Bridge Collapse

He Gave to the Circle of Disipline Boxing academy Also in Mineapolis

and to others in Maryland, Seattle and New York..

Prince’s voice soared on stage — but he was also a behind-the-scenes humanitarian who once quietly donated money to the family of Trayvon Martin, the Rev. Al Sharpton said Thursday.

Sharpton recalled receiving a surprise phone call from the iconic singer in the wake of the 2012 shooting death of the unarmed 17-year-old in Florida.

“I will never forget when he called me and said he had some funds he wanted to give to Trayvon Martin’s family,” Sharpton said. “Just out of the blue. Just out of the clear blue.”
