I was once engaged to someone that short, and believe me, after that was over I never looked at a short man again.

Really? How come? Is it just because you felt you couldnt wear heels?

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Of course Prince was conscious about his height. I have no doubt about it. Wearing heels 24/7 is a pretty good indicator of that, imo. If not, he would wear something else from time to time, don't you think?
He was short and that obviously must have made him feel self conscious. I know a couple of men that height (they are actually my daughter's friends, so they're in their 20s) and they even ask their girlfreinds to not wear heels when they go out with them. The Napolean xomplex is a thing. Plus, a lot of short man are very controlling towards women, for obvious reasons.

Prince made up for it being a hard working guy and having a great sense of humour. Of course he would joke about his height all the time, what better way to show people that it did not bother him at all? Just like how some bigger women/men will laugh about their weight. It works as a defense mechanism.

My dad is 5'5 and has always been conscious about his height even if he wouldn't ever admit it. Especially with regards to sports and the military. And the fact that my brother ended up being over 6ft tall. One way my dad compensated for it was to always one up people. He always was that little bit smarter, or knew a little bit more (even if he really didn't). I'd be very shocked to find any man not conscious of his height. No way is Prince wearing heels and wedges 24/7 if his height didn't bother him.

I think he had mixed feelings about his height. After he passed away I saw some pictures of him in a limo reading a magazine and that is when i saw it ...he was wearing white flip flops that added like 3 inches to his height! I think in another picture of him he is walking in an airport and he's wearing the same flip flops so I think it was a comfort thing for him to add those extra inches. In spite of his height he did not allow it to limit him in becoming successfull and that is just one of the many reasons why I love me some Prince!

i just had a thought- those think soled flip-flops and wedge heels tennis shoes were very likely orthopedic. if he had lower back and hips problems it would have been painful to walk without very supportive shoes. plain flip-flops are like walking in ur bare feet.

Yes, I love those cute flip-flops he wore! I were wedges a lot too -- they give me a little extra height, LOL lol

Yes, very good point. I noticed he was wearing wedges and flip flops more often; I'm sure it was a great relief from wearing heels all the time! I'm a female, and I can't wear heels anymore like I used to. I wore them a lot when I was younger, and they can really mess up your feet!! Ouch!! eek

I was thinking about all this talk about Prince's height. You know, I think it's more acceptable for a woman to be short "petite" than a man. I mean, look at all the gorgeous women who are in show business and are short "petite". The first one that comes to mind is the lovely Salma Hayek, and then there is Sheena Easton, who is a cute-petite Lassie! LOL lol

.

I think Halle Berry is only around 5'2" or so, like me!! lol

.

You know, when Prince gave her a hug when he presented the NAACP award to her, I thought they looked SO cute together! And damn, he gave her a really nice hug! I could tell Prince knew how to give a good hug!! lol hug kisses

Is she? Wow. She always seemed tall to me eek

When I was a teenager, I wanted to be a model (ahem...), but I soon realised I'm not gonna get over 5'3" ever. I've already accepted my height, but people around think I'm ten years younger than I really am because of that.

Maybe Halle is around 5'5".....she's a little taller than Prince was.

I know! I always wished I was just a couple of inches taller......I mean, 5'4" would be nice, LOL lol

Prince displayed loads of confidence, and was able to attract so many women. This man had more character than men twice his height. I love and miss him terribly every day. He made 6 foot, Van Jones, CNN, lawyer and commentator cry on national TV. All this 5'2", man had to do was just walk out on stage and stand there, and the audience went nuts. He was honored and so respected, his height only made him more endearing to his public.

You make a very good point! I am looking at his shoes in the later years and you are right the shoes do look....well orthopedic. Your comment makes complete sense the man worked decades on his feet Ii would imagine he did experience pain in his back, hips, and feet. God bless Prince he was the ultimate performer!
