So far, I've given 123 Prince songs a rating of a perfect 10, a further 51 a 9.5, and 78 a rating of 9.

9.5 - Exceptional

9 - Excellent -A great great song, but there is still better

8.5 - Very good/Great

8 - Good - definitely a good song

7.5 Satisfactory

7 - Average - a standard song on a good Prince album

6.5 Decent

6. Fair - There are some flaws, but still listenable

5.5 Mediocre

5 - So so, song is flawed but not so bad, still adds nothing to his cannon

4.5 Lacking

4 - Barely there - Just a song as Captain would say

3.5 Bad

3 - Really Bad, there is so much wrong with a song that scores this low

2.5 Terrible

2 - Dreadful, a real disgrace to his legacy

1.5 Don't ask

1 - For real Prince, are you fucking with us

0.5 - Complete shit, must be Boytrouble, Da da da or Mr Happy

0- Nothing can score this low, you get half a mrak for trying us with a song.

So mine is really that 7 is average for a Prince song and anything over is a good Prince song and anything under is a Not so good Prince song. My average for his songs is 7.56 and albums is 7.35 out of 10. (Released and studio music only - no boots or live songs like asked for in the poll.

Great to see a detailed breakdown of your ratings!

Great! I'd love to get more ratings from you. And yes, it does feel like old times launching a big poll like this! I hope the participation is such that the list feels fairly substantial.

I hope everyone supports this. It was enjoyable to do it. If you are like me, I was hesitant to do it due to the amount of time I thought it would take. However, once started it was really enjoyable and it sure stoked my desire to hear a lot of prince afterwards. It actually didn't take much time, but it could if you obsess about it. I didn't rate the songs that I couldn't get a clear sense of my rating within a couple of minutes, which were usually the more average songs on albums I haven't played for a long time or never did favor (i.e., 3rd album of Emancipation - loved a couple of songs but nothing else stood out to me). It is also was surprised to find myself with some of my rating trends, such as rating a lot of songs fairly high from an album that was never among my favorites (Planet Earth). So, "Do Yourself a Favor" and rate away.

Thanks again Moonbeam for doing this. I highly anticipate seeing the results, especially if a lot of orgers decide to participate.

• For songs that have multiple versions (e.g. “U’re Gonna C Me” or “The Dance”), please assign a rating to the version you like best.

Two things here:

If the later recording by the associated artist is by far the superior version like "The Glamorous Life" then I'm rating that one.

If a song is on the list twice because different versions are spelled differently like "You"/"U" and "Extralovable"/"Xtralovable" then I'm giving each version it's own rating.
