It's a cue for the band to give the song a "big" ending. |

Yes, it's a particular call to the band to end the song - is this unique to Prince, or is this cue common? |

It's common. Other artists have done it. I've never heard another artist do "confusion!", but I have heard "Vegas!" plenty.
And to kepurplehunter - that's cute and all, but "Vegas" is standard fare for band leaders sometimes.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Sometimes he'd do it as the intro to songs like the "The Jam". "Vegas E" - then into the song.
There is a great example on the Septimo version of Motherless Child. He does it 3 time at the end of the song. I can't tell if it's rehearsed or Prince's way of saying "Nope, again BIGGER". |

And doesn't he do it on One Nite Alone Live somewhere? I remember back then someone bringing up the "Vegas" call and I feel like it was around that time. But I'm not totally sure about it being on ONAL.
