Yeah, the girls look very unhappy and dismayed during show 3, particularly Hannah (who was usually all smiles.) "Nervous" is the word I would use to describe the energy on that stage. Prince must have been extra hard on them during this run of shows or something.
What's with the horns being pretty much inaudible on show 3? I thought they were miming during "The Breakdown."

Sitting here listening to 'Dark' night 1, around 4:45 Prince drops on the floor, gets up again then says jokingly 'I almost got my own self pregnant'.
Smokin' hot performance, just wow!

You know I am convinced he knew he day was coming but seeing this performance just brought it home and it is hard when you see this and add with other things that we know. He was such a boss at his stage of his life and to get this far and be ill just makes me want to

He was not known for those types of stage antics. In real life people who knew him said he was not a serious person liked to laugh and have fun. Those tears are real and some of the band members are crying something was wrong and they all knew it.

Prince and the band were "crying" because they all knew he would die of an accidentally overdose in 3 Years time? Makes perfect sense! If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

I did not write anything about the band knowing he was going to die from an overdose three years ahead. If he had joint pain and pill problems don't you think that would be enought to "want back the time" ?
We also have no idea what else he was dealing with but I am bet you are one of those people who thinks his sister was B.Sing when she said she knew two years ahead that he was going to die.
Something was going on with him that we do not know the details about.

I'm not even going to go there because you and I have researched so many scenarios plus a few other possibilities. Back a couple of months ago, I saw the video. I cannot describe the emotion, all I can say is that I cried, I couldn't breath, and realization set in. When Hannah was looking at Prince near the end of the song and tears were rolling down her cheeks, I knew.I feel certain that those girls knew and my heart goes out to them.

And somebody has already deleted it... yeah i had that one bookmarked on my phone. I watched it as much as i could before they took it down. Now i have bookmarked the one from the North Sea Jazz festival in 2011, which is also pretty good. Let's see how long it lasts.

I prefer that version of Love We Make as Prince is on guitar and plays one of his best solos ever. Paisley Park is in your heart

No, I'm not "one of 'those' people" that thinks Tyka was bullshitting (oh fuck, I actually wrote 'shit'). People try to cope with their grief in all sorts of ways and often try to post rationalise otherwise meaningless events to find some meaning. Tyka said she wasn't sad because of what she "knew". You believe she means that or it's a coping mechanism? I appreciate that you're grieving. I am too but trying to trawl through every clip, every song and lyric searching for some fore knowledge will drive you mad. Enjoy his art and Prince will never die. laurarichardson said:

Breakdown live... Oh shit. Going to start a rant here.. I got into R&B when I realized all my favorite rap songs sampled older R&B songs. I'd be listening to a rap album on my headset, then hear the original at a grocery store. So I got into Motown, MJ, Stevie... Prince was a slow-grower for me. I knew and loved all his hits, but I never grasped the scope of his genius until I saw him live. I knew every song he sang, then pictured him writing those songs.
I just didn't understand why people loved EVERYTHING he did. Now I do. Jazz, funk, HARD-ROCK (when a KISS, Metallica, or Guns 'N Roses fan asks me who's singing Bambi) On topic, this set reminds me of what I love about Prince: Musicianship, Artistry, performance. [Edited 12/19/16 14:07pm]

Maybe you mean you missed seeing the old Prince who did ballads etc? I wanted more of that too. It was a lot of horns and I wanted more Prince and less dance parties and NPG and 3rdeyeg3rl. More ballads. But parts of it are growing on me. I also haven't seen all of shows 1 and 2 as the links I have don't work that great on my smartphone

Those tears are real and some of the band members are crying something was wrong and they all knew it. Prince was great at putting on the emotion in a song. He could take a song from 1987, perform it in 2012 and make you feel that he was still back in the situation that caused him to write the song. Nothing "manipulative" about it; it was part of his showmanship. I've rewatched the Breakdown live over and over and I continue to not be able to feel the emotion others are reporting. Recorded it's much better. Lastly, the song has nothing to do with physical death. It's about a spiritual change. His old self (ego, things he used to want) is being broken down. The rest of the band knows this. He would discuss deep topics like this with those around him sometimes. [Edited 12/20/16 8:54am]

I see your point on the horns and backing singers being a bit cabaret on shows 1 & 2 but what about show 3? . I thought the stripped down 3EG rock stuff were some of his best in shows in years. Even the older songs like She's Always In My Hair, I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man, Something In The Water (shame he didn't do it in Montreux) sounded fresh.

This place is confusing me. Why are horns considered cabaret? I didn't listen to one of these songs and think Vegas lounge act. Not even with Courting Time. That's fine if these shows don't move you, there are shows that don't move me too. But where's the funk and its cabaret? All I got to say is:
