Yes! I've said the very same thing! You never saw Prince involved in any scandal, and with all the people he worked with and was acquainted with, that is pretty darn amazing!! He was a very private man. I don't know how he managed to do it, but he did. He wanted to be famous for his music, not for his personal life. One of the reasons I'm a fan. Plus I think he just grew up and got wiser with age. This is what he told Entertainment Weekly in 2004: “Look at this situation with the FCC after Janet: We’ve gone too far now. We’ve pushed the envelope off the table and forgotten there was a table. You can’t push the envelope any further than I pushed it. So stop! What’s the point?” This is one reason I've never been much of a Madonna fan. At some point constantly trying to shock people is no longer interesting, or shocking. I see her in an outfit like this at the 2015 Grammys and just roll my eyes. Aaahhh....MY EYES!!!! There.....that's better! . You're right. Honestly, I really didn't like when he did that. I sat there and said to myself: "Like, why?" .

I've always thought there's something to the classic "artistic temperament." Like somehow genius and emotionally unusual go together. My dad is like Prince. A pinkie's worth of the same talent, but so many parallels. Bass, guitar, piano, all by ear, self taught. Even now at 78 my dad's emotions can be overwhelming. He feels it all, intense highs, lows, dreams, loves. And funny. Fall off your chair, "imagine if" hilarious.
I wouldn't trade him for the world, but ask me to relate to what a regular dad is like and I couldn't tell you. I do know it hurts him to know the world thinks he's weird, perhaps because he never got the validation Prince did that being a little different is not only ok, but very cool. I think somehow pain is a built-in part of it. You can't talk them out of it, in some way it's all steps along the same path leading to both joy and creativity. Does that make any sense? Know what's cool? My dad loves Prince. He played in funk bands for many years--he was the guy playing keyboards in the back. [Edited 11/30/16 18:03pm] And the MUSIC continues...forever...

He was young and going for some shock value. I honestly wasn't offended, tbh. I am only three years behind Prince so maybe it was an "age" thing. And frankly, he is a very sexy man! Madonna was definitely trying (way) too hard with her "display". And I just HAD to replace that image with something more.....ummmm...pleasant! I bet you have some great memories of listening to/discussing music together. My dad passed in December of 1999 so I am a bit envious.....but in a good way! Weren't all girls from the 'burbs raised on Earth, Wind & Fire and Hendrix? Didn't we all work the soundboard in city bars while in high school? (My mom woulda shit a brick if she knew.) There's been so much talk since P died about how he knocked down racial barriers with his music. But it never occurred me that there were any. Someday I have to thank my dad for that. And send him some more links to Prince piano videos. [Edited 11/30/16 18:46pm] And the MUSIC continues...forever...

The 90s were a tough decade for Prince, both professionally and personally. Extreme highs and lows. No wonder he went a bit off the rails for awhile.

If by "quirkiness" you mean he followed his own instincts and intuition, and if by "weird" you mean he was a leader who broke new ground and didn't do what others did to conform, then he's both. God is my Sugar Daddy.

This. Interesting how being 'different' and standing out from a group of people (a common interpretation of the term 'weird') is often viewed negatively by the majority of people. Most of this thread is based on that interpretation too. Life Matters

khill95 said: It's obvious that P has a lot of quirk and witty humor with his music and onstage persona. This is one of the things I LOVE most about him. He embraces the weird and he doesn't give a f about it. This is a question for the OG fans. Did he ever seem downright weird or bizarre? A lot of what he did, at least to me, seems funny, or like I said, quirky and witty. From the ejaculating guitar, to wearing animal print underwear, even riding on the back of some big ol security guard, got a good chuckle out of me the first time I saw it. Even his later stuff that he did like the name symbol change and writing slave on his face says to me that this is a guy who knows who he is, what he's about, and doesn't take any crap from anybody. I'm only saying this because after the 60's and 70's, with the "free love" movement, counterculture, and all of that, it seems kind of odd that these actions were considered "controversial" at the time. Thoughts? He is not weird, he is Batman😁 just kidding.l

I find it interesting that when P performed in the yellow outfit everyone was shocked and ASSUMED they were seeing P's actual nekkid buttcheeks, deservedly so cuz they were meant to think that's what they were seeing when in actuality we know it was a fleshtone fabric....But in Madonna's case, it's clearly her actual buttflesh being seen.
It would appear that subsequent folks who "pushed the envelope" because they followed behind P weren't doing whatever he did.
Interesting...and real okeydoke on them by P...Lol

Prince was a Gemini. According to the mythology of the Greek, the zodiac sign Gemini is known to be the ruler when it comes or sending certain messages to the heavens of the Gods. This may be the reason why people who are born under the astrological sign of Gemini are always on the go. They are always eager to learn new things and the experience different things that they see. They are also known to be very mischievous and curious at times that is why they are characterized as people who are eager to learn every little specific detail about a particular topic.
People love talking about Geminis, along with the other astrological signs such as Virgos and Scorpios. Geminis have their own way of living uniquely that is why other astrological signs sometimes feel jealous of the way Geminis live and see their lives. They can also act detached and mysterious at times, that is why they are often misunderstood by a lot of people.
Some Geminis are genuinely quirky and weird. The sign’s mutability is hard for some individuals to handle. Those with strong Gemini traits often struggle with issues surrounding identity. Other Geminis merely represent their sign. Their changeable nature is just a part of their personality, not a sign of insanity. The Emotional Aspects of Geminis
You will never see a Gemini feel moody or be discouraged about something, especially if you're not close to them. They are comfortable letting these aspects of themselves be seen by their family and friends. The reason behind this is because, they love giving people an impression that they are stress-free, wonderful and happy.
Gemini people hate to relax and watch everything pass; they want to know everything about the world and the people around them. They always want to get involved in everything, which can sometimes make a Gemini too nosy. They love sharing their thoughts and their knowledge to other people. Geminis are also known to be superficial and will share these things to you without even studying the situation first. That is why some people tend to think that Geminis are known to be the know-it-all astrological sign. That is why they need to learn how to focus on just one subject for them to successfully complete it. They have the power to be creative with things that is why they have the possibility to be successful in certain projects that they focus on. They also have the tendency to become great sales personnel because they love communicating with different kinds of people, which will allow them to sell everything that they have in hand. Manipulating and persuading things are their things. They want someone who is knowledgeable enough to talk about interesting news. Gemini people are very knowledgeable and intelligent when it comes to certain topics. Feel free to teach them new things because they will surely appreciate it.
A lot of women love Gemini men because of their enthusiasm when it comes to life. But you should avoid making him feel like he is yours, because they are not the kind of guy who like to be pinned by the rules of women. He also has the ability and passion to use words that will surely persuade you.
Prince quirkiness and weirdness was more of a personality trait. He was a singer and re-invention is a character seen in many musicians. https://exemplore.com/astrology/Everything-You-Ever-Wanted-to-Know-About-The-Gemini-Personality
