Is there any promotion for Prince 4Ever at all?

Hi guys,

Normally a first posthumus release of an artist is at least a small topic on Dutch news sites. But in case of Prince 4Ever, no such thing. Even OOR magazine (more or less the Dutch Rolling Stone magazine) hasn't picked it up. Truly remarkable and sad imho. So far only musicmeter and writteninmusic covered the release here in the Netherlands.

How''s the news/magazines in other countries?

I've seen TV advert on ITV uk a couple of times and I've gotten a couple of emails from Apple and Amazon telling me that it's for sale.
I think as its just a re re re release of so many songs with the obvious exception of Moonbeam Levels, that people are just not that excited about it.

I have not seen any promotion but then Idon'twatch much tv and then usually PBS...what I have noticed is that there ia rarely any mention of Prince on shows about late 20th century music...there ia a good one on PBS about sound recording and part 2 talked about artist s who had home recording studios and how they recorded and who produced themselves etc and not a mention of Prince ...they jumped from Sly Stone to Fleetwood Mac to the Eurythmics and then to bands from the 90's.....also I have noticed if you listen to early interviews of musicians ,especially guitarists, I have never heard any mention Prince .The obvious one is Donna Grantis in an interview in 2010? at a toronto radio station. He just wasn't out there in most of the publics conscience

I saw that PBS series, too, and it struck me how odd it was Prince wsn't mentioned. MJ got the usual coverage for Thriller but Prince was shown briefly in a clip and then not even by name. Huh? If a series was made on sound recording I don't know why Prince wouldn't be included over some of the other choices. Sheila E. and Jimmy Jam were interviewed but not one mention of Prince and his studio work... confuse

Saw that PBS program as well and thought it odd Prince wasnt mentioned, particularly when they were talking about the Linn machine , mixing, soundboards, etc.

WB did nothing to promote AOA they are a shitty lable. I expect the same with the PR remaster. Prince is being erased and it will really be up to his family when they take over to change this.

Can't speak for the US, but they did promote it in the UK.

There were interactive video adverts all over the tube/subway in London and those are seen by millions of people a week, they don't come cheap.

Also, this in France.

I did not see anything like this in the D.C area and Prince was very popular in this area. It just goes to show you how out of touch the music industry is. The number one cd last week was a tribe called Quest and I saw very little advertising for that CD.

I saw a video on FB, someone was in Times Square, NY and a 4ever advertisement was up.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE PROMOTION IN THE US. Apparently no deals with the box stores about placement or possible price deals like Target often has. Indeed, by all reports the stores here don't even know if they are carrying it. No obvious advertising that I know of. Amazon, where I buy almost all of my downloads and CDs, didn't even feature it among the 12+ "new releases" it typically features nor did it have it as one of their several "upcoming releases" feature for the few weeks before it's release. Moreover, they also have a feature about what music you might be interested in buying based on your previous purchases. For me, they are repeatedly picking all kinds of the old studio Prince CDs but they have yet once mentioned in this section that he has a new album out. Amazing. They must be extending the philosophical quote about falling trees in the forest to "if you release a new CD but no one knows about it, is it really a release?". Let's ponder that?!

In this weeks People Magazine - US edition, it is #4 of Peoples top picks.

The side note states, "will have you wishing that Prince, like his music, could have lived 4ever"
