.

That third one is very nice inside (well, that laundry area is kind of utilitarian, but otherwise!). I'd live there in a heartbeat.

.

The most expensive of the three - beautiful. I can't imagine living on on a property like that. And having an indoor basketball court. So that house has been newly built, as in the land was owned by Prince but the house itself is new?

I'm curious about that because the listing has year built as 2017. It says:

Offered by Prince's estate. Do not miss the opportunity to own new construction by Gonyea Homes on Lake Riley with an acre and a half of wooded privacy. The home itself will be filled with high-end custom details, an indoor sport court, game room, theatre area, 10ft ceilings on the main level, and gorgeous views of the lake.

That sounds like the first two houses haven't been built yet and the photos are of what the finished house would look like? So did the estate sell the land to this builder?

--- Their were rumors that he was having another home built so maybe his living in Paisley Park temporarily.

Thanks for the information. Sad to see his lot up for sale that had the purple house and where his dad lived. Nice lots and homes.

-/Well his family could get a loan from the estate to purchase the properties but if they have no interest in keeping them the best thing to do is to sell. You can't get sentimental about property.

I am in agreement with you. Sometimes the little things make Prince's passing ring in and hit you again. That is what I was trying to convey.

Tax bills need to be paid or the government starts taking things far more valuable than these properties. The family doesn't need them, they need to pay the bills first.

I don't know why it's sad. Things get sold off all the time after someone dies. The estate can't just hold onto these properties. It's just business, and the estate has a different purpose and goal now, opposed to a living individual with different goals and ideas.

I was surprised to see the Kiowa Trail house on there. A lot of music was made in that house up through 1985 or so. I think he bought the Galpin property in the mid-80s, and his father was soon living in the Kiowa Trail house after that. John died in 2001, and he had the house demolished in 2003. I hate that, so I do feel that sadness over the purple house.

The third house is 8016 Dakota Ave (as noted previously on the Org, and on TheCurrent's site). There's a weird dip in the road into the curb, almost like the road was hollowed out when build. One of the two houses that sets there is that ranch style house. I became aware of that a couple of years ago, but I forget how. Put 44°51'29.32"N 93°31'27.71"W into Google Earth, and you'll find it. If you go street view, there's a white Mini Cooper in the driveway.

I initially thought the Rambler house is across Galpin from his yellow house property. He owned a couple of homes on Red Fox Circle. I mean it's directly across from the entrance to the Galpin house driveway. If you are standing in at the driveway at Galpin, and turn around, you can see the backyard and back of the Rambler house and another he owed. Red Fox Circle is just a little cul de sac in a development. The homes on that street look almost identical to the home for sale, so it was obviously the same builder listed in the article.

I swear there was a full list of his properties on here, but I can't find it; just other mentions of random properties. But homes like Dakota, and the rambler house were investment properties. Rental incomes, etc. Good move, really.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

/// There was s list in the court docs. The estate appears to be getting rid of residential investment properties and at this time is keeping the commercial properties.

Yeah, and I swear there was a more conclusive list on the Org at one point, but I've searched and couldn't find it. I might not be using the correct term in my search. There were some office type buildings in a nearby business park, too. I would imagine those will be sold off soon enough. Although one looked more like it could be a storage facility (just because of shape, etc). I think it's the one where the previous owner was moving out of town and said Prince paid cash for it, well over the asking price.

I thought two of the properties listed were Kiowa Trail. And the build date is 2017 which would mean the houses haven't been built yet. I know the list you're referring to. When I once drove by those Kiowa Trail addresses I just saw land, no houses. But I didn't see house numbers so it's possible I wasn't looking at the right property.

Yeah it seems that, if I'm reading it right, then one of the houses are going to be built on the purple house property. There's only one property on Kiowa that I'm recalling. The purple house was at the bottom of Kiowa Trail, and there's just a plot of land before the main road (Great Plains Blvd). I don't know if he owned that property south of the house property or not.

If I owned the Kiowa trailer, I'd keep that fence w/ the symbols on it, just as a piece of history.

These are the two Kiowa properties. I can only find one of these properties on that realator site now so not sure if the other one was listed in error or already sold.

Yes, for a person that did not have a will.. he sure knew how to invest in property. very interesting.

Ahh, so that sort of backs up my theory, although I didn't know how that land was divided. The first image is the house property. The 2nd is just land that runs to the main road as I noted. (The property to the east of the 2nd image is another house.)

I'd imagine it was easier to own them separately than have them rezoned as one plot. So I wonder if the 2nd was sold already or just not on the market yet.

It is pretty cool that Prince owned the property and land that he did. We hear so much of him spending endlessly on films that never saw the light of day, or parties, or other extravagant things and that, when in fact, while that might have been true he was also becoming a land owner (one of the city's largest) in his 20s through his 50s.

The Kiowa Trail is a cool piece of property. Nice neighborhood, backed up to the lake, private, plus a buffer zone of the 2nd property. I like it based on the closeness of the lake more than the Galpin property, although it backed up to two lakes as well.

When I cut hair years ago back home, I had a client who used to live in Mpls. She worked on a boat and did lake cruises (almost like a gambling boat type thing, if memory serves). She talked about how they'd pass Prince's house on the lake, and people always commented about the ugly windmill in his yard. She said, "I have no idea why he loved that thing, but people always commented on how ugly it was". haha Hey, that's Prince.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Yeah I love Lake Riley. For selfish reasons I'm glad Prince chose to stake his claim in Chanhassen. I read that one of the cities they looked at for Paisley Park was Orono (a city near Lake Minnetonka). Not sure why he finally decided on Chanhassen but I'm glad he did. 💜

I've got a sneaky feeling it got locked by the mods as an invasion of privacy as the family were still living in some of the properties on the thread in question. Would explain why you can't find it.

I can't believe that gate hasn't been stolen, it definitely would have been if it was around where I live! lol Maybe they could spruce it up a bit and auction it for charity or something.

Kirk lives (or was living) in one of the houses across from the huge Galpin property. All three, 2 houses and 1 piece of property between, were all on the list to be sold.

What happened that he would have the house bulldozed?

He had both houses bulldozed. It could be a tax thing. Perhaps there's less tax on land, opposed to structures or a home + land. John L died in 2001, and he had the purple house knocked down in 2003. Neighbors weren't happy because it possibly depleted the property values in the neighborhood.

As far as the yellow house on Galpin, the rumor that Laura mentioned (and that I've mentioned before) was that Manuella wanted a lot in the divorce. She was being greedy, and she wanted the house. So, Prince had it demolished, and shipped it to her in 18-wheel tractor trailers and basically said "here, you want the house, here it is". Now, that's the rumor, I have no idea if any part of that is true. But if it is, what a juicy-ass story!

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
