He tended to have that effect on folks, making them want to drop to their knees to worship, in more ways than one. Chile...whew!! They can say what they want about Andy being too young for Prince, but that girl ain't no fool!!! She was probably on I would want to have her head examined if she had not taken a chance with "Mr. Goodnight," who was probably better than ever, in every sense of the word, if you know what I mean.

Yes, I agree, it is a beautiful video segment. He is leading her first, then lets Andy go forward by herself. And she does so well. You can see both of them seeking eyecontact during while she is on the mic. He looks so happy, full of pride. A mentor letting his student fly on her own. 'cause you got to know...how I feel about you babe

She totally slayed it. Wow! She delivered -- to not only play the guitar but also sing in front of a huge crowd for the first time. She was brave and did not let P down. So much for the naysayers . Andy Allo has talent and stage presence to boot. “The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” – Albert Einstein

She was pretty much a guitar novice when she joined the NPG, but after two years of being in what amounted to a Prince master class, or "boot camp" as she has referred to it, she is now much improved. P poured himself into her with his teachings. Many now rave over her acoustics.

I love this Andy Allo promo/logo. With those "long legs" in those iconic "knee-high boots," about which Prince sang in "2 Y. 2 D.," she is holding the white Gretsch® that Prince reportedly gifted her..

He was definitely feeling it...and her!! There is a slightly longer clip posted in some of the earlier pages of this thread, with perhaps another minute or so. At the end of the song, P says to the crowd, as they roar with approval, "Andy Allo!! Ain't that nice? There are angels in the Netherlands." [Edited 12/30/16 17:54pm]

If he was truly in love with her, I wonder why he didn't marry her .. Everything you think is true
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Who knows for sure? But if I had to guess, I'd say that it had to do with his abandonment issues that resulted from his troubled relationship with his parents. Plus, his two disastrous marriages probably made him afraid to trust anyone so completely again. I do believe, however, that, had he been in good health, he would have eventually married her. . In the end, he just ran out of time. But there's no doubt in my mind that he loved her deeply. Amazingly, no one ever asks this kind of question about Vanity, to whom he was not married. Still, there are those who seem ready to cut you if you deny that Denise was the love of Prince's life...and that every love song he ever wrote was about her.

I sometimes feel sad about this too...especially when some of the "opinions" I read about Prince just DONT Match how "I SEE him"..I often feel very defensive, I want to slap some people...but then I remember that Prince himself said that other peoples opinions of him says more about THEM them than it does about him . That has helped me stay out of too much trouble on the org. I tend to stay out of discussions that contradict my own inner compass, and as time goes by IM finding that people who are aligned in their posative insights and opinions about him, find each other and tend to cluster together....

I'm downright ok with every opinion anyone might have. as long as it is delivered as opinion = a personal point of view.
ppl in general tend 2 blame others 4 the bad things happening in their life instead of focussing on the good things and be grateful 4 what they have. that's the main reason - IMO - this world is like it is and most ppl live a life they don't like. but prince was the perfect role model 4 choosing the opposite way - his entire life. and he tried 2 teach his fans. his intention was uplifting in each and every way. what makes me sad is that it seems like nearly no one was listening. clicking through all those threads on this board it looks like most orgers are checking in on a daily basis just 2 dump their own frustration, searching 4 someone 2 blame, finding anything 2 criticise that someone else did/said/created and looking 4 trouble. in fact they are turning almost every single thread into a battlefield in no time. that's the job of the tabloids and they did it quite well all those years and still do. I'm ok with that too. it's their job. I just don't read it. but claimimg 2 be a prince fan or better "fam" 4 decades and "knowing" him could ((!) I put it conscious as an option!) have easily led 2 another mindset. but it didn't. THAT makes me sad. faaaaar from topic I know ... sorry 4 that [Edited 12/31/16 8:29am] the only love there is is the love we make

i really like andy, she is talented and beautiful and i can totally see why he was smitten with her. the age difference is expected, the majority of men given princes position would do the same thing. but in my opinion he was just simply done with her, like he was done with every other women he had been with in his life (except manuela, as it was said he did not want the divorce). i think if he wanted to be with andy, married or in a relationship, they would have been together. if he did not want an exclusive relationship and she did then that's that as well. bria converted to jehova, he lived with susannah, sheila is still in love with him to this day, and we don't even have to talk about how much mayte sacrificed to be with him, and is also still in love with him to this day, and the list goes on and on. prince and andy had very cute chemistry and made a nice couple, but if he wanted to be with her they would have been together

. Thanks for your input. It is truly appreciated. The fact of the matter, however, is that Prince spent the last few months, if not years, of his life trying to make his way back to Andy, but his life was cut short before he could make that happen. Also, I think his failing health, unbeknownst to Andy at the time, might have had a lot to do with them being apart. Plus, I think his two disastrous marriages, including the one to Manuela, contributed a great deal to Prince's reluctance to remarry. Still, he seemed unwilling to give up on Andy. . Below are just a few of the things he did to try to bring her back into his orbit and/or demonstrate that she was still on his mind. . 1. He released Art Official Age on August 25, 2014. Andy was all over this album, his first in four years, which was a LONG time for Prince. Not only was the album filled with ballads most believe were inspired by AA, he also did something he had NEVER done on one of his 39 studio albums: He included TWO duets with her, "What It Feels Like" and "Time," both of which she co-wrote. . 2. HNRP1 was released on September 7, 2015. I believe there are three AA-inspired songs on that album: 1) "This Could B Us," 2) "Hardrocklover," and 3) "June." . 3. He released HNRP2 on December 15, 2015. Andy's inspiration was pretty apparent on this album on which I believe she inspired at least SIX of the 12 tracks: .
. Additionally, Prince Vault notes that, although he first debuted "Black Muse" live on December 15, 2010, Andy Allo is assumed to be the background vocalist on the studio version of the tune. Moreover, AA appeared in the video for "Rocknroll Loveaffair." . 4. On October 27, 2015, he posted an Instagram GIF of him singing his version of Andy's verse in their instant classic ballad, "Time" from Art Official Age. There is absolutely no doubt for whom it was intended. For good measure, I will once again post that Princestagram below. He looped these reworked lyrics: .
. 5. He announced plans, on November 5, 2015, to tour Europe at the same time as Andy's already scheduled tour. Both tours were ultimately canceled. . 6. He held a 12-hour "Oui Can Luv" Stream on TIDAL releasing his and Andy's acoustic Album on November 7, 2015. . 7. Last, but not least, there is only one photo of a woman in the Galaxy Room at Paisley Park, which Prince used for meditation. That is Andy Allo. Not one of his ex-wives. Not Denise. Not Sheila. Not Susannah. Andy. . Now, here's that very humble Princestagram. In the event that the link does not work, here is the direct Instagram link: https://www.instagram.com/p/9WVY5XmLbw/ .

Hello FlyOnTheWall. Thank you for the howdy-do. I will be ringing in the new year in a quick minute, so I do not have much time to follow up on your response. I will do it next year though. Now, I am just partaking in some hit n' runs on some posts. I was pondering the radical change in the haircut and haircolor. As Ms Coco Chanel once stated, "A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life." I do not know Ms AA's current business or her life since I do not follow her. I do keep up with current news about Mr/Dr PRN and his associates daily. I do recall shortly after his passing, a stream of young female proteges and ingenues who were about to embark on or were in the midst of a tour and/or about to drop an album. They made news because they were mentioning their mentor. I am not including Ms Esperanza Spalding in this clique of recently-revealed proteges because she preceded them and Ms AA. I am including her on the grounds that she might have been the first young female associate with this look in 2010. It might be that Ms AA feared that she would be included in this flurry of similarly-looking ladies once she began her tour or dropped her next album. Again, I do not know her current business, but I sense you do intimately.

This is becoming the intriguing question for me as well. If she is/was THE ONE then why did they not make it, if they were together? I believe he was a man who was able to will what God wanted for him. I do not believe in the depths of my heart that God willed her to him or him to her. I believe that such a relationship would have veered him off his enlightened path. For one of my favorite posters on this thread to say that Mr/Dr PRN and Ms AA were working to be together up until the end, but could not make it work because he was obdurant, jealous, and died too soon, is too much. Oh, and the pretty babies they would have made (with aunties as babysitters in tow). But a few (two or three) on this thread are die-hard to believe this is the case. I am left to understand with an open-mind and an open-heart his final years by what he said himself and by those who spoke and/or worked with him during that time (unless or until his autobiography about this creative muses and inspirations comes forth) to find the answer to this now intriguing question.

A peek into Prince's mind (Greg Kot, Chicago Tribune September 20, 2012)
..."What excites him most, he says, is helping new artists. The 21-year-old drummer Hanna Ford is on his list of future band members. He's already jammed with rising jazz star Esperanza Spalding. He flips on video of a solo performance by the young British folk-soul singer Lianne La Havas. "She is Joni Mitchell to me, the way she tells a story, the way she puts those interesting guitar chords underneath it." The next minute he's taking a call from his protege, Andy Allo, who will perform with him in Chicago. He moves to another room upstairs where he has two large computer screens set up, and he toggles between a video-in-progress of Allo and a video of a recent "Welcome 2" tour date in Australia. Then he dials up a YouTube video of the '70s singer Betty Davis, a gritty track called "If I'm in Luck, I Might ...icked Up." "I don't want anyone to fail, so if you can make money off music even though you can't sing or dance, that's genius," he says with a laugh. "More power to you. But I play Betty Davis for Andy Allo and say, 'This is what we aim for.'"

BillboardMagazine cover story of Prince (Gail Mitchell, January 22, 2013)
..."Talk turns to his latest protégé, Andy Allo. “What does it take to get a record played these days?” he asks. He executive-produced Allo’s Superconductor (Allo Evolution), a funk and jazz romp through very Princely territory featuring Trombone Shorty and Maceo Parker and released in November. A guitarist/vocalist who joined Prince’s NPG band in 2001, she recently appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” But so far there’s no appreciable radio attention around her project."

. Based on the excerpt you have so kindly provided here, it seems that the peek into Prince's mind revealed that he was thinking a LOT about Andy Allo. In fact, I'd say that P and AA are the "we" that he speaks of when speaking of Betty Davis, Miles Davis' ex-wife. Thanks for sharing this bit of valuable information. Happy New Year!! And if you manage to actually pull yourself away from this thread long enough, do be safe in the midst of your NYE revelry that you mentioned earlier!! [Edited 12/31/16 11:26am]
