Inspiration is here... Andy's Twitter:
Doing dishes and started humming some lines...process of #songwriting ... never know when inspiration shall pay you a visit 1. "I always thought we'd have more time / That our love would age just like fine wine" ... #songwriting #newsong 2. "You once said we'd be like ships in the night / I doubted you then but now it seems you were right" ... #songwriting #newsong So nice of her to share [Edited 12/1/16 2:19am] 'cause you got to know...how I feel about you babe

WOW. It's good that she is starting to let it out. This is an important stage of grief. Thanks for the update, paradise000.

Interesting...if P inspired, and ships in the night rreference may be where the heartbreak happens that she mentioned in her message post following his death. Hope she keeps letting it go and letting it out. Sorry for the edits in the beginnings of migraine auras which is distracting. [Edited 12/1/16 4:26am] [Edited 12/1/16 4:28am]

Sadly, joy, as I posited at the onset of this thread, it seems they were both heartbroken. At this point, I hope Andy keeps releasing the pain, too. It's all so hard to understand. By the end, it seems that he was pulling out all the stops to try to win Andy back, but they never found their way back together. In fact, during the Piano and a Microphone Tour, from all indications, he was singing about lost love and "relationships," sometimes becoming overcome with emotions. I recently saw a clip of the 1st show at the Sony Centre in Toronto on March 25. And I cried for almost the entire 19 minutes. He did the following medley: Dolphin/"Heroes" - David Bowie cover/I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man/Use Me - Bill Withers cover/How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore? During his cover of "Use Me," he ad-libbed a bit, with a few interesting comments added to the classic lyrics. And, "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?" took on a new sense of poignancy. But, back to "Use Me." Prince poured his soul into these lyrics:

Oh that is sad...perhaps there is something to the possibility that he was ill. Just goes to show that sometimes, one can't pick up where they left off or go back. Surprising how some people have kept so tight lipped.

Tyka did say in an interview that she had been preparing for this loss for two years. That's probably all that we'll ever hear.

I'm not familiar with the concert footage, but those lyrics are pretty desolate, and disturbing to read. I suppose there is some very small consolation for me at least that Kirk & Prince's other friends were clearly trying their very best to help him, and presumably offering some heartfelt, well-intentioned advice to steer clear of said user/loser (clearly not Andy Allo then, as she comes across as a proper sweetie, and we can see from some of the pics posted on this thread how much fun she & Prince had together as close pals).
It doesn't surprise me in the slightest, as Kirk always struck me as a really good guy, and a dependable friend for Prince, upon whom I'm sure he could rely over the years for friendship, love & support.
Hopefully that should finally firmly put to bed any lingering doubts anyone may have had that Prince's friends were indeed there for him, no doubt showing him profound love and deep concern for his welfare right to the end. Miserable though it is to read those lyrics, that at least is reassuring to me.

Hi GrayDorian! I would have posted the performance link here, but that would guarantee that it would be pulled down, sooner, rather than later. I think you're right that Prince's friends loved him and did all that they could to save him. I like Kirk, and I am not one of those people who has been quick to accuse him of all manners of nefarious things, many even calling for his prosecution. In my mind, there must be a reason that P kept him nearby for over three decades, chief among them: He trusted him. .. With regard to the song, "Use Me," I think he was singing about Andy, but only because, from the very beginning, people, especially here on theOrg, thought that AA was only using him to advance her career. That's what prompted P to announce the following to one group of fams after AA performed: "I don't care what y'all say; I got a crush on that girl!!" .. Plus, there are more encouraging lyrics in the next verses, which I'll come back to, that address the passionate nature of the relationship that so many just don't understand (or disparage, even), in this case, probably because of Prince's and Andy's age difference. One thing, in this regard, that is often overlooked, is that Prince, himself, is the product of a May-December relationship. If I'm not mistaken, his father was 22-years older than his mother, so this was nothing out of the ordinary for him. .. But, I digress. To return to Bill Withers' "Use Me," here are the final two verses, not all of which, I hasten to add, apply to P and AA's relationship. For instance, I don't believe she was "rude" to him, but compared to most people who tended to treat Prince like the music "god" that he was, from the footage I've seen, Andy seemed to act pretty unaffected by all that. And, Prince must have liked that, but some might not have understood why he allowed Andy to "break all his rules." .. Now, here are the final verses (P didn't sing the last verse), which basically make it clear that, if one really wants to talk about someone being "used," the couple are using each other, and that P "can't get enough." Here goes:

On a lighter note, found this pretty cute thread, posted by none other than KCOOLMUZIQ on April 11, 2016, just 10 days before Prince's passing. Remember, it is widely believed here on theOrg that KCOOLMUZIQ was Prince (or his representative). Maybe my mind is just "in the gutter," but I think the title is very suggestive and playful. What say you? This person had quite the sense of humor...and, was still checking (and STANNING) for Ms. Andy.

Thanks, 80tomato!! So, according to that report, it was 16 years. Whatever their age gap, I know it was substantial enough to be considered a May-December union. I'm almost sure that I read in at least one place that it was 22 years. I'll double-check that (when time allows). Thanks, again, for the information.

Whatever was shared between these two people, I am always surprised (I shouldn't be) that men move on to other women almost automatically. That is why I have a hard time reconciling the alleged musical comments about lost love and relationships ... Please, it seems whatever they had ended two years ago. Judith Hill came in about two years ago. Maybe other women. People are romanticizing this relationship in the same way the relationship with Mayte is being romanticized now.
