the part about her being half east half west would suggest JH since her mother is japanese(east) her dad is a black amersican from cali(west) [Edited 11/25/16 8:48am] Damn, I thought this song was about Vanity! Maybe we're all a little crazy! It's okay though, it's okay... Nothing wrong with cheering your favorite Prince girl on. We loved him and wanted him to feel love in return.

not a favorite of mine at all! but in what world is camaroon consider the east?
-- save that silly shit for pinkcashemere and flyonthewall- they are the ones who NEED for prince to have had great love with this woman. and angellooksdown- who thinks he was only innit for the metaphysical and soulmateing aspects of these couplings.
-- none of these hens meant more to him than the other, i've been saying that from moment one- and being flamed for it! 30yrs of behavior doesn't lie!! same pattern of behavior with new recruits- that's all it's ever been. Prince #MUSICIANICONLEGEND

Very true, luvgirl. I thought the same thing...until I started digging. Really, I just wanted to know who had opened Prince up like this in his final years. And, based on my research, if I were one to bet, I'd wager that all of the sublime love songs that Prince wrote in the last four-five years of his life, the Andy era, were about her.

It's not the far east, like Asia, but it is not improper to call parts of Africa the east. It is the near east. Historians and Anthropologists try to take Egypt out of Africa by calling it the Middle East. But, let's not get into a geography brouhaha, okay? Lastly, wavesofbliss, don't be mad. You do know that you don't have to click on this thread, right??

Honestly Andy does seem to be Prince's last public serious relationship. He may have even considered marriage.I wouldn't be surprised with the picture Andy posted of them together.I haven't seen him hold another woman that tenderly other than his wives. But this thread was intended to celebrate Prince and Andy's relationship and musical collaborations.

Indeed, it was/is. Theirs was a beautiful collaboration, worthy of celebration, and examination.

Here's a very nice, color-coordinated one. I had not seen this one previously.

I think it may be about Andy too especially since she posted a song demo in 2013 called Pharoah and she wrote a poem in 2013 called Give and Take where she referred to herself as being forever someone's Queen. Also the lyrics parallel their song The Story Of You And I [Edited 11/25/16 18:25pm]

It was! He seemed to enjoy it. Some other footage I loved from Europe 2011 was at Hop Farm during If I Was Your Girlfriend when Prince climbed up on the piano with Andy sitting at it and he sang to her while playing with her hair and she leans back on him and shakes her head while he ruffled her hair with his hand.It was so cute-she was cracking up laughing at him.

I agree-though her voice and stage presence had improved greatly by summer 2013.She's been sounding great lately but she has been sticking with acoustic performances. She found her niche and is much more comfortable. And I agree about P's keyboard playing-very funky! [Edited 11/24/16 20:11pm] It was interesting to see her stage presence improve. She always seemed sweet, but it took a little while for her to really command the stage in front of a large audience. I agree. It couldn't have been easy having Prince throw her into the proverbial deep end of the pool, where she was either going to sink or swim. Sure, she had an album and had done live performances, but nothing could have prepared her for being a centerpiece of Prince's shows, with audiences of 50-60,000 people--with no real build-up (other than a few intense practice sessions). Prince must have seen something in her, besides her good looks. She has said it was like "boot camp." I just watched an interview where she stated that, since she didn't grow up listening to his music in Cameroon, she didn't really know the magnitude of Prince's status. Yes, she knew that he was a big star, but I don't think that she knew that P was one of few living musical "GODS." It's a good interview. I'm going to post it below.

This is a cool interview from October/November 2013. It started slowly with an adoring caller who rambles, but it gets better. Of course, there were the standard questions about how she came to be working with Prince, but there were also unusual questions, like the one that led to her teaching the hosts a few words in Cameroonian Pidgin. She also did a really nice rendition of "Yellow Gold."

That was a good interview. I remember watching that when it aired October 2013.Loved when she was teaching them how to speak like a Cameroonian! Thanks for posting too! [Edited 11/25/16 21:32pm]
