I must admit I am always shocked by the sheer amount if work that they have put in, it must be thousands of hours worth. I've always used it as a resource and am incredibly thankful.

From memory there were fans who used to run various fanzines / websites. They'd written a book in the past. I think they asked people on Housequake if fans wanted another book (for which they might have broken even) or some kind of online resource for free.

I'm not sure if they did ever put the 2nd edition book out, but PrinceVault is amazing. Someone should bully those guys into doing a podcast.

By the way, it just so happens I haven't been able to get on the site for the past two days. Anyone else having this problem? Maybe they're updating or something; hopefully that's all it is!

Yep, obviously they do.

It's a wonderful thing about our days, there have been studies about it: people do hard work for free (see Wikipedia and all those sites like Pvault), for the sake of compiling and sharing knowledge, or providing conven ient services such as freewares. This seemed unthinkable 30 years ago and the interwho has just provided a platform for this. Of course fanzines and volunteer work had existed before the internet but now it's reached new heights.

This is considered a valid argument in favor of base income: people won't just stop doing anything, they'll do things they enjoy and contribute the community even without a salary.

The Princevault team has been doing an amazing job, they deserve every Prince fan's gratitude hug

As to who they are, I know some are former Uptown Mag staff, and the rest IDK.

Well, now it's intermittently not working for me after trying several browsers. lol I'm occasionally getting a message saying the website can't be found. I wonder what the problem is? confuse DNS issues?

The homepage i bookmarked in my browser(s) doesn't work (server not found) for about 2 days.

But when I typed princevault.com the website opened just fine.

After some browsing it was gone again. So there seem to be some problems?

.

Such a great source of information, really appreciate all the work they do!

Aye, I've had troubles with it loading recently.

I'm currently working through all the albums chronologically while I'm at work (currently on I hate U from The Gold Experience), and I like to have Princevault open just in case I want to check something.

I wondered who runs it as well. I even tried to find out on the site. You can send an email to the administrator but it doesn't show the person's name.
