I don't think Rave '89 and Camile would have made good albums It's pretty much all in the title. [Edited 10/27/16 9:37am] [Edited 10/27/16 22:47pm] Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

FWIW I think Rave would have been a better record than Batman. Unless Stimulation is awful or something. I think Camille is perfect, and a better album than The Black Album, but certainly not as good as Sign or the original CB. "That's when stars collide. In recent months I compiled a Camille playlist in iTunes. I've found it to be quite a fun album to listen to. It doesn't necessarily have a story to it, but the voice alteration gives it a cohesive vibe throughout. I think it would have done quite well as a public release because it's short, focused, and the songs are well done. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The conceit of having a parallel career in film greatly skewed his album output circa 1985-1991. It either delayed material during an especially rapidly evolving time in popular music, occupied critical release spots, created nervousness amongst his management and WB people (potentially affecting the schedule and selection process of the final product), diverted attention during his most energetically creative period, etc. . Consider how much more commercially and creatively interesting the period would have been without energies misdirected (and the attendant consequences) with the involvement in the proposed and actual film projects. .

The songs are beyond amazing. But they just don't flow together for me. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

It's so funny - I consider Camille really really well flowing together. The songs are all pretty upbeat so I find that I have to be in the zone but when I am it's so consistent to me. Def. a top 10 P album for me. Rave 89 I'm not sure about - I'm missing a few songs from it I think so my playlist is incomplete.

I think Camille is a stunning album. It flows perfectly for me. But it's hard to imagine what that would have meant for what was to follow, i.e. SOTT. I think we might have lost more than we would have gained by having Camille out there.

Prince definitely had good material in the vault in 88/89 I was listening to a personal configuration for the 89 Rave album last night there was a lot of different styles and influences going on in a majority of the tracks. After the lackluster acceptance Lovesexy received the Batman soundtrack guaranteed prince a successful album with the hype of the film alone. The Rave unreleased material just gives a glimpse at what could been the release of 89. Now the Camille album project would have gave prince a way to release more material knowing the real prince fans would search out his material under any name I love the Camille phase there is some wonderful material in those handful of tracks after UTCM a album like Camille would have restablished his place in the minds of fans who loved his underground material like Erotic city its definitely funky when listened to as it would have been released.La la la he he hee has always felt to me like a track that would have fit on that project as well. We love u Prince "love's the only drug we do in here"-Prince

From the tracks that we do have, Rave would have been an extremely poor album. I think Prince was going through his own version of writers block between 88 and 90. He was churning out songs, but the melody quality was thin.

I would definitely need the version with The Voice Inside on it. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

I think it would have been a darn sight better than the Rave that was released in 99! It's a shame that it had to be shelved for Batman as I think judging by the tracklist if released it would have probably been one of his greatest works.
