There's never going to be any 'NEW' PRINCE news.

Is the org now just a place to lick our wounds whilst -

discussing what Prince's family is doing?

the 'PAST'? and conspiracy theories?

confused

That's a pretty cynical and downbeat view.

What about all the potential unheard music? That's news and with the potential volume of work, that could be good news for a long time.

There are also plenty of stories that people are now coming forth with that they didn't (or couldn't) air before. Sure, that counts as "the past", but it all adds to the rich tapestry of his life, much of which was fairly well concealed beforehand.

It's tragically sad that he is gone, but I think he has left us much to look forward to.

My thoughts exactly.

I think there will be lots of new info regarding his songs and his life, lots of new biographies (good and bad), probably new documentaries as well.

As sad as things are these days, the journey may be over but the flow of topics and news will continue for a long time....unless we on the org no longer care about the org and the music.

I really prefer the org over any other website to discuss his music. There are many Facebook groups but I´d much rather discuss all Prince related stuff here on the org instead of FB.

I just see it as factual.

Sure there's plenty of "new to us" stuff but it's not the same as "what the HECK is he doing" or "what will he do next", and all the "new to us" stuff will always have that question mark over it anyway. You know the one, the "who tinkered with this" one.

People still discuss Sinatra, Faulkner, Miles, Shakespeare, etc. It's very likely the Org will never be the same. And there will never be "new" news. But there will always be new discussions. New research. New discoveries for new fans.

Let's not be sad. There's a Greatest Hits CD with an unreleased song coming out on November 22nd and a new CD coming out in 2017 with all new unreleased music. We can STILL talk about Prince. Mayte has a book about her love story between she and Prince coming out in April 2017. I'll bet the Grammy Awards and the Academy Awards in February 2017 have a nice tribute to him. There's still TONS and TONS of pictures of Prince I've never seen posted every day on this site and I look forward to seeing them every day. Thank you to EVERYONE who shares them. Prince, Paisley Park and the way he helped people will keep his memory alive and we, his fans, can be grateful for that. I know I am.

That's not totally true because new posthumous releases and also "news" of additional bootleg recordings turning up. There really wasn't a of Prince news the last few years anyway and he seemed to be semi-retired to some extent. Of course the Piano and Mic tour was huge, but he was doing greatest hits tours and festivals the last several years so wasn't that much to get excited about, especially if you weren't anywhere he played live.

But mostly you are correct and it's a sad truth that we are all trying to deal with.

With such a large work, there's fuel for many miles still.
The only thing that saddens me a bit is that "Prince: Music and More"
appears to be more about "More" than "Music".

At least one photo book of Prince coming out next year as well By Steve Parke who was P's art director for many years.

I've noticed some orgers have disappeared since P passed.

A lot have also joined.

The community is totally different from what it used to be.

For better or worse I'm not sure yet. Some people I really won't miss, but on the other hand there seems to be a lot of very young and/or very confusd people in the new crowd.

I think there will be "new" news. People will start talking. Not about the bad stuff - although I think that will come out eventually - about music we have not yet heard, videos we have not yet seen, philanthropic gifts we have not yet learned about. The Estate and/or a music company will start to release that music and those videos. We'll learn about how his monetary gifts supported a cause, or helped a program. If he had retired, and no longer made new music or appeared in concert, what would we hear about? A rare appearance at the drugstore, or at a Broadway show? We would have the comfort of knowing he was still around, but IMO it wouldn't be any different. Think of David Bowie: no one saw him, really, after the 2004 heart attack. A rare appearance here and there. But music trickled out. Videos were released. I think it will be the same with Prince.

Sorry, won't try to turn your frowns upside down. Continue with the whine, add in some tears and break some things, lay in the floor and have a tantrum.

Yeah, but all of that will still be things from the past. Just like when there's a new archive release by Jimi Hendrix or Bob Marley. We can go back in time and remember how great they were... And that's about it. Face it. All we have left to talk about are things from the past. Prince will become part of history and we will become historians.

The way I tend to think about it, given the mysterious nature of our man's 'departure', is that it's like the end of The Beatles.
Now...there will be a period when there's nothing new but, as with The Fabs, there's a lot to come and our man prepared the stocks.

Time to get over what all 'spiritual' wisdom calls but a 'changing of clothes'.

Prince will never be anything BUT the news. Believe!
