Hey the worst that can happen is that The Org will become, to Prince's future, what the Boomers are to Paul McCartney's present, a bunch of old dudes who will complain bitterly about how he's perceived by youngsters.
Me? I'm all for whatever way he's going to be viewed in the future because neither a large percentage of Orgers nor the press ever did him any favours other than buying his music.

As Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have put it (and I'm paraphrasing) 'If the price we pay for you buying our records is to come in and interrupt us in restaurants, then DON'T BUY OUR RECORDS. You have to draw the line'

“I don't believe anything, but I have many suspicions.”

Let's not be sad. There's a Greatest Hits CD with an unreleased song coming out on November 22nd and a new CD coming out in 2017 with all new unreleased music. We can STILL talk about Prince. Mayte has a book about her love story between she and Prince coming out in April 2017. I'll bet the Grammy Awards and the Academy Awards in February 2017 have a nice tribute to him. There's still TONS and TONS of pictures of Prince I've never seen posted every day on this site and I look forward to seeing them every day. Thank you to EVERYONE who shares them. Prince, Paisley Park and the way he helped people will keep his memory alive and we, his fans, can be grateful for that. I know I am.

At least one photo book of Prince coming out next year as well By Steve Parke who was P's art director for many years.

That is so exciting to hear! That is one book I will definetly be buying. biggrin

There will always be things to talk about, with all these upcoming music releases, past music to discuss, the PP museum officially open for business and many more memories that fans want to share about attending concerts, just to name a few. I bet there will be even more books in the future too.

That's a pretty cynical and downbeat view. What about all the potential unheard music? That's news and with the potential volume of work, that could be good news for a long time. There are also plenty of stories that people are now coming forth with that they didn't (or couldn't) air before. Sure, that counts as "the past", but it all adds to the rich tapestry of his life, much of which was fairly well concealed beforehand. It's tragically sad that he is gone, but I think he has left us much to look forward to.
Yeah, but all of that will still be things from the past. Just like when there's a new archive release by Jimi Hendrix or Bob Marley. We can go back in time and remember how great they were... And that's about it. Face it. All we have left to talk about are things from the past. Prince will become part of history and we will become historians.

I am "facing it", thanks! I already acknowledged that in my post where I said, "Sure, that counts as "the past", but it all adds to the rich tapestry...".

You can choose to be negative, dour, sombre, whatever about it, or you can embrace what has happened and look forward to all the unknown stuff that is going to come out. I'm going with the latter.

You must be joking. There's been more Prince news since he died than in the last couple of years before he died. It seems like we're getting news almost weekly about new Prince stuff going on. We just got news about Purple Rain with an entire second disc of "unreleased" songs. I don't think that would've happened if he was still alive. I vastly prefer this news to the almost nonexistent trickle we got before. I actually have reasons to log in to this website now.

I do hope people will continue to come on to this forum. I don't care if its with "new" news or "old" news wink (I'm sure there's old news I haven't heard yet, so it would be new to me smile )

Otherwise it will feel as if people are forgetting about Prince. And I wouldn't want to live in that kind of world ...

For me, he still lives on through his music, which feels as fresh and alive as it ever did to my ears, heart and soul. He recorded several lifetime's worth of music, so there's plenty more Prince to uncover, digest and debate.

I, of course, wish dearly that he were still with us, laying down new tracks in the studio. But I don't think it really makes that much difference to me whether any new music were recorded a month, a year, ten years or more ago. Nothing is ever truly 'new'; everything is ageing. And age doesn't necessarily make something less relevant.

The fact that no-one will ever experience one of his live shows again, or that we'll never hear news of him rustling up some pancakes is, however, a different matter entirely.

If we could only get a subscription to Heaven Daily, I am sure he is the talk of the realm up there.

Imagine if Prince had full albums, singles, live performances recorded in Paisley Park, interviews and promotional clips all themed around a project.

Then a project could be released just like he was still alive. This is not the case, but it would have been the ultimate legacy exit plan, if the vault was able to fire out material like Prince was here. What I see instead in the next twenty years is at least four more greatest hits packages including a clandestine hits package such as a ballads collection, a box set of outakes (which I hope for released in a box set which is a vault that opens when a code is placed, or a combination is spun), a streaming service that has the possibility to download tracks, more deluxe sets includind a parade extended double disc with the color under the cherry moon blu ray. A series of remix from charting artists that will be hit and miss. More Prince in advertising from his most commercial hits. A loving Spike Lee Doco using vault footage with a bonus retrospective concert and aftershow four hour extras setting. Some clown will probably remake Purple Rain track by track. This clown may also try and remake the Purple Rain film and star in it. It will be called Purple Rain redux (still too soon).
