Very cool song. I believe it was originally slated for inclusion on the Purple Rain soundtrack, but was ultimately cut. Certainly, other orgers can offer a more complete account.

I'm aware of only two versions: a sort of fun, buoyant mid- to quick-tempo vocal version with pronounced -- almost twangy -- rhythm guitar; and a very percussive and much faster electronic instrumental with heavy synth layering and dissonant keyboard accompaniment. The latter can be heard in the movie "Purple Rain" as Apollonia is first wooed by Morris in First Ave. It was also performed by Prince & the Revolution during their Purple Rain tour.

I know very little about the history of the vocal version.

I prefer the version in PR.

Just wish I had a perfect quality vocal version!
