She said on her livestream that she tried to sing a song for him and he was like "No!" lol and she said she feels like no one can do his songs justice. Maybe that's why?

What picture is up? The black and white photo she posted after his passing? I also heard there's a pic of her in the galaxy room.

THIS IS THE PICTURE AT PAISLEY

I bet P took this photo of her. On her FB page she has several photos identified as being taken by P.

Andy allo and Prince

They also wore TOTALLY KICKY matching outfits, and allegedly, she’s the one who influenced him to wear his hair in a natural afro. They also sang “Let’s Get It On”, in a reasonably sexual manner. Wherever this sits with you, the outfit coordination forever solidifies them as a visually unified music making match in the heavens.

I never heard that but it would make sense.

I feel Allo gave P a great sense of peace and love

Never quite know why it ended after the excellent Suoerconductor album

JJ said that after the album wascompleted the romance was mostly over. JJ said he set it up so that the woman would have to choose her career or him. maybe andy followed vanity, anna, and jill's lead and picked their career. carmen also said prince asked her if she wanted to be famous or a housewife.

Superconductor is a great little album. I like the live studio sound it has, title track apart.
.
He made some great songs with Andy, their voices complimented each other nicely. I love Long Gone, Yellow Gold, When Stars Collide, Oui Can Luv and Time is one of favourite recent P tracks. Shame U Will B never got released.

Yes. You do your homework. I don't know if it was said that Prince actually "set it up" so they would have to choose, but I have read that with one girl (I forget who, maybe Carmen Electra), he asked her to choose.

It just seems that at some point they would leave and move one with their careers.

All his women were beautiful in their own right, but I think one reason Manuela worked as a wife for a while was that she wasn't in the business.

Also, these singers were mostly young and when you're young you want to explore the world and your capabilities. That selfishly comes before the understanding of how important a true love is...you're just not ready yet. Dont know why none of them could've stayed with him though AND sung. Maybe that wouldn't have worked for him or them for some reason.

I think Bria also worked and became his GF because she was older and did want a relationship more than anything else but then married someone else.

I don't know why no one worked for him after Manuela. He did say in his last RS interview that marriage for him again...he would have to really be pulled in by something.

That woman was out there, she just didn't find him in time 😢

Why do some poeple here have to behave like fascists, trying to force their views on reality? Let him try it, his appreciation of it, good or bad, is something that belongs to him only and that's beyond your realm.

It's interesting that once P and Mayte got married, she never danced (worked) for him again - at least I think not? I know she fell pregnant immediately after the wedding - and then, with everything that happened, maybe she didn't want to resume dancing - but I'm more inclined to think that P just didn't want those women with whom he became seriously involved on stage with him or in the public eye too much...Why might that have been, do you think? I find it hard to believe he was just an old-fashioned chauvinist (or maybe he was?) eek

  • he was his father's son. once his parents married, according to tyka, his mother only sang at home while the dad was rehersing. she never performed with his band again.
  • once his parents divorced his mother was working all the time, again according to tyka, their mom had 3 jobs until she married their step-dad. and then she went to university and became a social worker. she wasn't around very much and both tyka and prince had some resentment towards her. they felt that she chose her career over them. tyka said that once she herself became a single mother she had a better understanding and ending up being best friends with mattie. i'm sure prince reconciled with her too but it obviously effected his ideas about women and relationships. he continuously re-enacted the abandonment he felt byhis mom working, by making the woman in his life chose.
  • interesting to me that mayte did stop working and stayed home but he left her.
  • tyka's comments were from a podcast she did to promote her book back in 08/09. the book is called 'momma didn't teach me how to sing'. i have never been able to find a copy of it. during those interviews tyka also cleared up the rumor about their mom wanted p to be a JW. tyka said that mattie's parents were 7th day adventists(tyka said that mattie's parents were also alcoholics)and they(t and p) sometime went to church with them. tyka said that john was a baptist and that's when her mom started going to baptist church.

I noticed that in his 2nd marriage he was MUCH more protective of what he had and wouldn't discuss Manuela at all. Don't blame him.
He might've been wanting to protect these women too.

PS Hello to xxaxx. I read once that you were P's favorite Orger (?) 🙂

That context makes a lot of sense. Thank you, WoB.

I wonder also if it came down - as Angel says - if it came down to being protective, even jealous - he didn't want any others to be lusting over 'his women'.

i can't believe this. he paraded mayte around ,mostly naked and sniffed her snatch all night on stage during the ultimate experience tour. even their tv performances were rude and sexually vulgar. i think with MT he had learned his lesson about parading his marriages around in public and MT wasn't a performer so their wasn't much to look at. he couldn't work into the show so to speak.

WOB, that is excellent information. We all become our parents. One of the things we are here to do is get rid of the bad and keep the good, undo the generations of dysfunction and the conditioning we grew up with.
I think Prince made huge progress with this by the end. He certainly was aware of it, that was the "45 years" of "medication" he was waking up from in the AOA
Album. His awakening.

Ok so back to the childhood stuff: I have known since April that the main reason I connect so strongly with Prince is that I knew he was an "Adult Child of Alcoholics" like me. I have a soft spot for him because when I observe him, mostly as a younger man, I see the same "affects" there that I have. And I admire him so much because he got out of that house and somehow had this God-given courage to be so strong.

I think our whole world is suffering with this family dysfunction thing. I see it in almost everyone I meet. Most people just become assholes but then there are the gentle ones. I'm the latter and I think so was Prince. I think that is one reason so many of us are so sad about his passing.

I also happen to think most Prince fans are also the good gentle type. Best group of people, overall, I've ever met.

I agree with you re not parading MT around after MG...However, I do know of quite a few men whose attitudes about 'public display' change once they've actually married their women. Maybe Prince was one of those..? You know the sort - they're attracted to beautiful, sexy, provocative, confident women; they love the highly sexualised nature of the relationship and want to show it off - but once they're married, the wife has to become chaste, virtuous, a 'good and proper wife'. I've seen it a few times in my life / friendships. I'm not saying P was like that (really, I have no idea) - but it's a curiosity, nonetheless.

He did kind of own them. They all worked for him and their money was all tied up with him.

Even Sheila E said he did not want her to be in Krush Groove because there was a love scene with Blair Underwood that he did not want her to do. She needed to do the movie for the money and he gave harrassing her to get the scene out which she was able to do.

He had an idea of what his women should look like and how they should conduct themselves.

Brilliantly put. I would also add, many people stay together when they're not suited, perhaps for the sake of the children, or for financial reasons, or maybe they're too afraid to go it alone. There are so many things that make the vast majority of us messed up in one form or another, but i think without question early childhood experiences come top in that equation.
