Purple Rain - The Musical. Should it happen? We know that Prince loved musicals and that at different points in his career he planned to write one. I believe that, whether we like it or not, Purple Rain the musical is going to happen. It would be a project for the masses rather than the fans; I would go to watch it, even though I'm not sure how I feel about the idea. So - should it happen? [Edited 10/24/16 11:29am] | |

So it would cost about $10 million or so to mount on Broadway? Sting's show just tanked, losing a fortune. If they wanted to go ahead with it, hire Lin-Manuel Miranda to write it, and shape the songs into the narrative. I think it could work. "American Idiot" was a sensation. Why not "Purple Rain?" | |

Now is not the right time. However, eventually, a musical would be great. A musical would help keep Prince's legacy alive.
