At the end of the day P's legacy needs to live on and to do that his music needs to be accessible.

Actually, maybe it doen't need to live on. He seemingly didnt give a fuck, as we know about making his work barely accesible.

Yall are fighting for his stuff harder than he did for his own shit.

--

He music was accesible you just had to go buy it. He was talking about YOUTUBE destroying sales years ago and now the entire industry is bitching about it and streaming.

He cared about his music more so then most of the artist around.

On Twitter @PRNFamily have tweeted the billboard story with the hashtag #WhatwouldPrinceDo and asked for "thoughts".

They retweeted my tweet saying "He'd give them the side-eye" LOL

I think we can safely assume that the Billboard story is false as they tweeted again with #RespectTheLegacy over $$$$$$

^ I'd imagine the family has more of a say as to what happens with the vault than Llondel. If the family decide that's what they want to do, I'm not sure how Llondel would stop them?
Maybe the family have already decided they just want the money. Llondel could be the one who didn't get the memo.

If you follow their Twitter feed they didn't re-tweet this because it's what they want, which is why Londell responded in frustration that he had already discredited this story.

Londell McMillain said so as soon as this article dropped. Not sure why the family is bringing it up again.

OK, fair enough.

I just wonder where the story came from. If not from the estate then perhaps record companies have been asked to make offers. It seems unlikely they'd just pluck a number out of the air.

35 million might not sound like much, but if you're talking about a vault of unreleased music which may or may not sell, it can't be far off.

His back catalog on the other hand, is a goldmine which even Prince himself never exploited to it's full potential. But they wouldn't refer to his back catalog as his vault.

The article keeps being retweeted and talked about (Billboard & the BBC ran the story and many others) so PRN family responding settles it once and for all.

With so many rumours coming out and press stories I'm pleased the PRNfamily responded by bringing it back up and stating they were going to #respectthelegacy

Ingela

The more I think of it the last people on earth that should have anything to do with his work is the family. @respecthislegacy by having go to people in the industry that know the industry than money grubbing fools that will do god knows what tacky things with it. Opening Paisley Park so soon for instance.

Someone should just give them the money so they could go their merry way and let pros handle it. Enough of amateur hour.

As I've said somewhere else, I ignored all 'news' beyond 21st April as much as possible for the simple reason as I scarcely read an accurate word in the press about Prince during the past x million years and wasn't imagining that would be changing.

I've been going through it now, at a distance, trying to make up my mind on what I think happened and will happen. I've said elsewhere too that I think he planned a lot of what we're seeing and with that, reasoned or unreasoned, I also think everything seems to be going 'well'.

Why?
Well PP is open and certified as an income generator and linked to the hometown in a major and, surely, 'protective' way now which, surely takes the urgency of a threat on the tax stuff down several notches. Not saying it's dealt with but the mechanism for dealing with it is now in place.
The tedious red herring of 'no will' has been delineated well here on the Org after much discussion and it's now pretty much apparent that the goose and golden eggs is as safe from any and all predators as it could possibly be at this juncture in the privacy of NPG and its appointed soldiers. NPG has the 'real will' of which the catalogue's removal TO NPG is but the outward sign of our man's continuing genius. Congrats, P wherever you be.

Fearful peeps need to think laterally as it's definite our man did. I keep thinking of Tyka's husband's statement somewhere (now forgotten) that P worked for several days straight before the 'events of April 21'.
A set up kid. That's my feeling and I ain't seen nothin' that's saying otherwise.

And, as the possibly spurious report of Jay Z's supposed interest in the vault rights will inform you, the quoted figures on $35m and $40m, if actual leaks of an actual discussion, would be about LICENSING not ownership.
There is no yard sale at NPG.

The Exodus had begun
