I just discovered this song and can't beleive I never knew of it before. What a freaking awesome track!!!

I remember hearing it when first available, and with everything else being released, I heard the first few seconds and went "meh" and didn't give it a serious listen. Then one day a few years later, it came up on a playlist, and by the end i was like "wtf". Awesome song that I slept on for a long time after it was released.

A highlight of his career for sure. That chorus is enveloping - and my favorite part is the verse where he says "Ask your mama if you can stay with me" I think it is. So clever to me.

Princevault makes some interesting notes, as does DMSR: It dates to August 1, 1985, which is after Around The World In A Day was released, but yet it sounds like it belongs on that album. Of course, it could have been a great b-side for a Parade track, but that was left to pieces from the movie. It was recorded a few days after "The Question Of U", and 3 days before "Empty Room". It's interesting to see that TQOU and ER were Revolution era tracks. We know ER was probably about Susannah, but I always think of those two tracks as post-Revolution material, especially since TQOU was reworked in 1987, and released in 1990. But the GB version actually uses the basic tracks from 1985. ER was originally recorded live w/ The Revolution, but rerecorded later as a new track. Has the Revolution version been leaked?

Well, I didn't recall all of that from memory, but I did remember the NPGMC thing. There was a lot of excitement around it at the time. I remember the Roadhouse reference at that time, too.

Awesome to see others enjoy it as much as I do!

I was just randomly listening to tracks not paying attention to what was playing and the Splash came on and wowed me.

I was like "wtf is this?!"

One of my fave songs from the era. So sensual with a killer groove.

Sexy, romantic, deep, it has it all. A most wonderful Parade-era track!

It has to be rereleased on a proper album covering that era, not left as an orphan song like that!

It's great! And it seems to me this is one of those beautiful unheard songs that Wendy and Lisa mentioned they were always recording (in some interview a while back).

I think the "overly busy" arrangement is a trademark of Prince's music in general. How some fans can be Prince fans in the first place and yet continuously complain about overproduced or overarranged songs beats me. The reason I fell in love with P's music in the first place WAS the overly busy arrangements on his music.

I love the track, it was perfect in Radhouse Garden project. But the NPGMC MP3 is not so good in sound.

Most likely because WB had left it off The B-Sides, and P felt the track deserved to be heard by "modern" audiences and/or reissued on CD format. ADP was quite unique in his discography, it makes sense that he would have wanted the track to be remembered.

I was pretty unimpressed with "Splash" but ER with the Revolution is something I'd love to hear.

Same here. I was surprised to learn that apparantly the music from the video is from 1985. To me it has that Gold era sound
