I disagree. Prince has a VAST catalogue, so there are any number of songs he could have dedicated to Denise after her passing, dozens of ballads, even, but he chose LRC. I'd say that is very telling. IMHO...

She claims when her book comes out it will erase any doubts Prince wrote the story about her (Mi Ling). So this story's not over yet.

Of course, it will. I'll wait for the inevitable book reviews that will be posted on the Org. I won't be purchasing her book.

Just curious as to where are these auction pieces coming from?

The auction site says that the pedals and mic are from a former guitar tech.

Very weird to see items up for auction, particularly the notebook and writings. I am sure this is just the start of items to come, unless the auctions do not generate a lot of bidding.

Yup, that's Prince doodling. Cute as hell. And maybe the earliest iteration of (what will become) the love symbol?.....

That's his handwriting alright.
Definitely the same marker caps handwriting found on the "Gett Off" maxi CD single.
You're right, it's probably the first iteration,
or maybe Vanity was handling the red marker, and she got it wrong biggrin

Can I profit from the occasion to once again express my love for the genius bass line
going on during the extended ad-lib?

I imagine Prince being all proud of it ("Mayday!"), and giving Vanity the first tape, so she gets to hear it before anybody else (after all, she IS the Little Red Corvette).

Aww, that's so cute... sad
It brings me nightly urban visions of the early eighties. Lasers and shit. LEDs. Halogens.
Moonbeam Levels, whatever this shit means.

No internet. No SMS.
Just fixed, localizable in the mind, phones.
"How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?" has acquired a deeper meaning
since the advent of messaging.

Love/Hate mix-tapes on CrO2 K7s.
What an era.

I love this extended remix. I pretty much wore out the German import 12" that I got of it...

Let's go crazy: is "Blue Limousine" the sequel to "Little Red Corvette"?
Does "Blue" suggest a regret of letting Vanity go?

From what I understand, Prince is in love, but Vanity loves Prince, and another (or several) man.
Or maybe it's all Paranoia from Skipper.
Or maybe he can't stand to be subject to betrayals too.

Who ate the apple (Apolonnia) first?
Who cheated first? It doesn't matter in the end, the end result was negative.

Then it's war, a (possible) classic in "open" couples.

Whatever it is, both songs exsude paranoia of the betrayed, more than any other in his repertoire.
You can switch genders in "Blue Limousine", it works for the most part:

Seven-thirty
She said that she'd be here by six
She's looking dirty
I guess she's up to her old tricks
...
I must be a fool
To let somebody do this to me

If it's just the same classic subject of do-wrong woman paranoia,
why a car again, and why a colored car again,
and why have Susannah, for crying out loud, doing the background vocals?

Prince said he wrote about his experiences.
But he had the reserve to come up with metaphors and innuendos
so no one would know, except the person he was singing about.

Or fans, decades laters and only after emptying some thrash bins.

I mean, the "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man"
young mom is probably a real person Prince knew.

Just a crazy thought.

I really want to know more abour these multiple versions. Just different edits? Just variations in the mixes? Or something more unique?

That is interesting! Please let us know if/when you find out more.

.

This is most likely merely the 'Dance Remix' we are all familiar with, and a released, although rarer, short edit thereof, and perhaps the '1999' album version, all on the same vinyl. Unlikely anything previously unheard to be found here.

People who worked on PR said Vanity slept with the director. She stepped out on him and he stepped out on her. He had plenty of drama in his life to draw songs from.

Great find thumbs up! according to Julien's Live http://www.julienslive.co...lot/82685/ they estimated it selling between $1000-$2000, with a starting bid at $500. For these type of items would there be a letter of authenticity like they talk about on shows like Pawn Stars etc

Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

eek Wow! What a special reverence in the world of Prince and Vanity! This helps to Solidify the rumor of the song being about her. Great find!!! [Edited 10/10/16 20:28pm]

I agree. I think this shoots down--or, at the very least, calls into question--the notion that it was written for some other woman, about whom most of us had never heard.

Exactly! I had my doubts about that claim from the beginning.

The show he did 2009 Montreux he song LRC and he says "taking your clothes off... for anybody... I thought you were saving it for me" Uh Miling said she just danced at clubs not dancing on a pole and that Prince danced with her. I'm thinking she saying she danced at clubs when going there, not working there as a dancer. She definitely didn't acknowledge herself as one of the types to be getting out of her clothes for every Tom, Dick, and Harry. Interesting is Vanity's Romantic Voyage song "cause I've been savin'my love for you" Is this just a coincidence? I don't think Miling told P she saving her goodies for him if she left without even telling him.
