New amps/receivers with phono inputs are rare, have you considered buying an older used amp?

Failing that just get a pre-amp for your turntable then you can use an amp without phono inputs.

This thread is Exhibit A for why my sticky about the vinyl reissues shouldn't be closed.

I bought the Parade Vinyl re-issue last week and had to bring it back. New position and Anotherloverholeinyohead kept skipping. It was pretty consistent, but I found on occassion if Ijust put the needle down on the track directly it was less pronounced.

I have the orignal which took me a while to track down and it is perfect. I brought the re-issue back to the store last night and got a replacement. The exact same thing is happening.

When I look closely at a distance in the right light, you can see small circles in the wax of about 1-2 centimetres. You have to catch the right angle and light to see.

It seems that there might be a bad production batch, so I will get a refund. I am dissappointed, but at least I have the original release (although the cover is cream not white, with age and sunlight I guess being 2nd hand) and it spins perfectly. I did think the sound of the re-issue was good, but there is no point in keeping something you can't listen too the whole way through. I was still trying to figure out if I can notice a differnce with the original.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am wondering where it may have been pressed? I will also write to Warners on this. It would be useful to know if anybody else has had issue. I bought my copy in France. I don't know if the use different pressing plants per region or not. Please let me know if you have experienced this.

I am not going to rant and rave to them, but Prince and Parade deserve a better quality vehicle than this for the album. I bought Prince and For You re-issue and had no issues, as well as the Purple Rain, Dirty Mind, Controversy and 1999 re-issues a few years back - all goood.

Thanks in a advance for sharing your feedback.

Yes, had same issues with "New Position". Skipped a few seconds into track straight out of the sleeve. Sent back and got replacement that played fine.
