Suggestion of Locks of Love for Paisley Park. What say U? On a FB page with someone posting their beautifully personalized Purple Lock, we got into a discussion that a Fence, with the sole purpose of Locks of Love, be installed or approved at Paisley Park, or perhaps in another location where they wouldn't have any possible 'traffic problems'. This will help provide a place where fams can leave a lock of their choice as a momento, but will also prevent things that could fly away or end up in the damaged from weather etc. This could turn out to be a beautiful memorial site for Prince and would be a street art type structure. I think it would be a great idea.

No. It's an obnoxious burden imposed on property owners. Paris is banning locks like this because they are damaging the bridges. Not to mention the cost of periodically cutting/removing the locks. It's really no better than littering.

I would agree that in a New York minute this would be a bad idea and really serve no purpose for properly paying tribute to him, if it were to be approved and fence filled up too quickly it would cause rebels to start placing those locks in other areas where they're not wanted and become an eye sore. Well, since you asked......it does sound like a lovely idea but others have already said why it won't work out. I say no...the virtual online thingie should be enough. At least those who've presented it will also undertake the task of upkeep for it, whatever that might mean. Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end

I don't think there is nothing obnoxious or heinous about the Toronto L.O.V.E one (first photo), That is done really nicely. People are going to leave things regardless. Having some...direction/unity would make it much more tasteful, and reduce the debris the city seems to get complaints over (?). Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.

At George W. Bush's library in Texas, they have a virtual wall. It is the coolist thing. They have cameras that you can take your picture and speak into them. Then you could type your name and anything else that you wanted to say, and it ran across the top of the wall by the ceiling.
It really was nice and hopefully they will have something like this at PP.

I find imposing personal sentiments on others personal property obnoxious. No better than tagging a neighbor's home or business with graffiti. Respect the property owner and the community by being considerate of the time and financial burden being created. As they say in nature hikes, "take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints".

They also have something like this at the top of the Space Needle on the observation deck. you can take a picture and post it in real time. Although there is no video. My 2 cents, I think the virtual wall would be awesome, but how would one access it if it is IN PP. Not everyone wants or has funds to take a tour, perhaps if they are traveling through MN and want to stop. Hmmm..... Virtual Locks. [Edited 10/2/16 11:30am]

Yes I was reading recently about the problems Paris is having with the locks - it has become such an issue. The idea is cute but I think it would look messy. The thing with Paisley Park is how pristine and clean it looks from the outside - it was a real credit to Prince to have it looking lovely all the time and I hope it stays that way - just as he (sadly) left it. I just hope one day I can get there to see it in person. Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Why does a tribute have to only happen at Paisley Park? Why not sponsor the care of an animal at Edgar's Mission in Australia? Or plant a tree in Israel? Or buy a brick at a commemorative walkway in Toledo OH for the Fair Housing Center? Do all of this in loving memory of Prince. I think he would be not only happy but grateful that the world was being helped, one gesture at a time, because he once lived. Just think about it.

I say no. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I like these notions. All of the above. No one said it has or is only at Paisley Park. BUT having something in Minneapolis...somewhere...would be very fitting for those coming to pay respects when there isnt' someone specific to go do that. Dance where y'are, just groove y'all.
