Updated policy at Paisley Park Just got an email SPECIAL VIP-ONLY OPPORTUNITY While there are no phones or cameras allowed, you can take advantage of a special VIP photo opportunity. To take advantage of this VIP opportunity, a flash drive will be required. VIP guests can either bring a flash drive with them or purchase an official Paisley Park flash drive at the venue. What a crock. I paid extra for the VIP so that I could take pictures. When I bought them, it said there would be photo oops. I didn't think that would mean not being able to take my own photos. I was exited to go, now I'm asking for a refund, and if I don't get it I'll still probably stay home and burn 200 bucks. I know one thing...no sympathy whatsoever for bootlegs at this point z

Really? Do you not know how lucky you are to have tickets and be able to go to something as amazing as this? And you are going to throw it all away?
Maybe one day I'll be able to go. Whether I can take pictures or not. Right now the happenings in my life won't allow it. Lot's of places don't allow you to take pictures, PP is not the 1st place to bar pictures.
You are so very lucky to have tickets and be able to go.

Did Prince allow photos inside Paisley Park when he was alive? Paisley Park is in your heart

Isn't the email suggesting VIP will get a photo opportunity, and that you'll need a flash drive to take the pics away on the day? Also, you'd stay and home and burn the $200? Why exactly did you book them then? To view the park or to get a selfie?

Maybe I'm being naive but I was expecting this to mean that PP would download photos to a flash drive that we bring, at no additional cost for those with the VIP ticket, or we can have the photos downloaded to a flash drive that we buy there. I'm actually happy that folks won't be running around taking pictures. That, to me, would seem distracting. Without trying to take pictures I'll be able to really focus on the experience. You must be new. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Always something to be mad about around here.

Honestly, it takes a certain amount of stupidity to just assume you would have been allowed to take pictures. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

I am so envious you get to go, even though I am not quite ready to visit I hope that one day I will, but for me it is a big expense being in Australia. I did not think for a moment that people would be allowed to take photos inside, if they do that and it gets uploaded everywhere, then people may not even bother to visit at all? I think they will have designated areas maybe for you to take a selfie OR they will take a photo of you in a certain area (against a back drop maybe) and allow you to take that photo home on your USB flash drive. That way the photos are limited and "approved" in a way. I think that is a great idea and stops people from being in the way taking selfies all the time which is super annoying and intrusive to all around.
I was lucky enough to see Prince at the Sydney Opera House in February and I would have loved to take a photo of him there seeing it was the last time I would ever see him, just for my own self - but the fact I could not (and knew well in advance it would not be allowed) certainly did not make me think of not going. Some things you just have to experience. Prince has always had a no photo policy and I just figured Paisley Park would be the same.
Please dont blow $200 worths of tickets over some photos - you are so lucky to have this opportunity - but the time I can afford to go, they may not even be running tours for all I know
Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

I am bemused. Your enjoyment of the experience is removed by not being able to take pictures?? Even though you will ACTUALLY GET photos??
You certainly won't be gettting a refund. And this is the world of Prince - the artist who would have attendees ejected from concerts (or at least taken to the back) for using camera phones. Sounds in keeping with the world of Prince for me.

some people ..really Alas the kind that will be taking friggin' selfies in the Q. I could care less about a selfie. I'm not interested in selfies, I don't want my picture in anything, I want tot take pictures of what I'm seeing so that I can look back and remember the experience. Why is that such a bad thing? Does nobody here ever take pictures ?

She said that the tixs clearly said photo opportunities. It's not a stretch that means taking your own photos. Some of you need to apologize profusely. [Edited 10/1/16 6:05am] Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Revolution--of course--what an instigator of discontent! > "Photo opportunities" can be broadly interpreted, but for a paid-access facility this generally means there will be limited areas allowed for photography. So before dropping your cash on a tour expecting to create a personal photo journal of the Park, inquire first to discover what the restrictions may be before you get hurt feelings over what you thought you had paid for. > With that said, the tour description and tickets should probably be changed to say "limited photography access" to clarify to the uninitiated. > Folks, start sending your suggestions to the Paisley Park administrators. I've already done so for my own considerations, as I wish for them to develop a first-rate experince.

it's just basic respect. Would Prince have ever allowed pics to be taken?..hell no. Respect his wishes, the majority will be agree that it is horribly wrong to take pics. I went to the 1st celebration many years ago & those memories have stayed with me forever.

I agree, the VIP Tour description does sound slightly misleading, they should be more specific so as to avoid this kind of disappointment amongst those paying that kind of money for their visit. Life Matters

Allowing photos to pour over the internet won't help the cause - which is to maintain a sustainable business. Go on the tour and just enjoy it. Agreed. I'll be there for a normal and a VIP tour in early November. Figured if we are making the trip all the way there we might as well enjoy both experiences. If it's anything like Graceland, you will be able to buy a book or set of professional photos of Paisley Park after your tour. 2 sevens together

This isn't just a Prince idiosyncracy thing. There are plenty of buildings, museums, and exhibits which prohibit taking photos.
The Sistine Chapel doesn't allow photos. The guards will eject you for taking a photo of Michaelangelo's painting on the ceiling. Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul prohibits photos - the guards will take your phone and force you to delete your pics. The Bowie IS exhibit in Chicago didn't allow photos. Plenty of other examples, really. I'm sure it's disappointing but really, I don't want to be competing with somebody's full size iPad for a view. I'm sure the tour operators appreciate keeping things running on time by not stopping at every random point for 30 people to take turns shooting photos. . [Edited 10/1/16 13:43pm]
