that's just him being too cool for school, i recall and interview around that time about one of his songs about critics where the interviewer described his eyes as "half-mast" as Prince said "this one's about people who talk shit". It might have been the question of u.

Which cover are you describing? GB cover is an airbrush mural?

Yah, the GB cover is not an actual photo, but like a painting. But in it, it shows Prince with the "bored" look. It's also the cover of the VHS/ DVD movie.

First, this whole thread is sorta stupid (not the O.P, just the idea). As if Prince is the only person to have a serious look on their face.

Second, it's not airbrushed. It's not like a painting, it is a painting by the talented Steve Parke. He painted the whole thing. Yeah, he's that good. If you follow him on FB, his work is pretty fucking amazing, Prince album covers aside. I don't think the image looks bored at all. To me, it's more of a "you gonna sit there and watch" look. I always found the whole cover rather odd as a piece fitted for an album cover, but the detailing saves it for me. It's as much of a hodgepodge of ideas as the movie and album were, good or bad.

People harped on Parke for years about his artwork, but you know - Prince gave out ideas and approved them. Blame him if you don't like it. Prince gave the people in his employ a lot of freedom to create, but he still had the final word on details and overall concept. Parke's a cool ass dude, and talented as all hell. I can do a lot of stuff, but I could never draw, and I used to hate that. Thankfully I'm artsy in other ways.

He was really bored if he was not working on his music.

Off topic but....this is why I don't think any relationship/marriage would have worked out long term for him. Music was his love, everything else was secondary to that and just couldn't keep his interest.
