I love If I was ur girlfriend. I don't think its threatening. It's sweet but too needy. But its a request not a demand.

I hate U and its line about the 'rod' bugs me but I like the song anyhow. 18 and over just creeps me out.

Yeah not too subtle on 18 and over. I was a bit shocked when I first heard it.

Why? Prince was a very sexual artist and honest in his work. 18 and over is much better than 18 and under that would have creeped me out.

The fact that it was not that subtle at all. I'm not focusing on the song title - I'm more or less focusing on the "I want ta bone ya" in the chorus. Not exactly the sexiest phrasing in the world - which is actually what I *would* have hoped for. But that is just me - anybody who really likes the song cool - in fact *I* like the song - just wasn't something I ever thought he'd drop.

.

Edit: about "Had U" - that is just brutal.

The breakdown during Let's Pretend We're Married, "I sincerely want to f*ck the taste out of your mouth" has always shocked me, still to this day. Not only the words, but the delivery. I am shocked in a good way though! It's a real jolt. I think it has a sinister vibe...To me anyway.

Towards the end of Lovesexy (the song), he says something like "I wanna walk right down your walls", not quite sure what it means, but sounds dodgy, and includes an electronic beep, brilliantly placed, which adds to the suspicion he's being a naughty boy

I'm slightly surprised no one has mentioned Dance With The Devil on this thread, there is no one moment that I'd classify as sinister. It feels unbelievably frightening from beginning to end. The lyric mentions "He wants your soul and he wants it 2night" as it climaxes! Yet, I love the song and believe it is Prince at his most bone-chillingly direct... shocked

Pheromone is his most sinister song. Hands down.

I can see the castle
I can see the throne
I can see the beloved and she's not alone
But it's cool like that
Cause I'll be diggin' her just the same
I can see the curtain wrestled from the wall
I can see her hands tied
I can see it all
He pulls a gat
This is how they play the game
And I'm 'round the the back
Cause curiosity it knows no shame

I can feel the tension through the crack in the door
He begs for love, while she's disgusted more
And I'm on fire, cause I never seen her nude before
I want to save her (save her)
I want to watch (watch)
All my vital signs go up a couple of notches
When he unties her and she runs to the open door
He trips and grinds her (grinds her)
Right there all on the floor (on the floor)
She so close I can touch her (touch her)

Her eyes are closed but there's no penetration
He just makes her point the pistol to his nose
While he masturbates and now I see a tear
Heading down towards her smile
What happens next it all depends upon your style

Where do you even start with this?

It's not just a lyric it's a whole song that plays out as a story.

In the first verse he sets the scene up. The curtains wrestled from the wall as if this couple have been fighting. But he also refers to it as being "how they play the game". So it never becomes clear if this is a fantasy or reality. One line suggests reality the next suggests fantasy.

Does the girl kill this man? Is she smiling because she's got the gun? Or because her partner is about to come?

It all depends on you the listener as to how this plays out in the end. Fucking genius. But from a very dark place.

It didn't go down well with some 'fans' either. What was he thinking? no no no!

The song was not releashed to the public so he was not really thinking about we were going to think because we would not have been hearing the song.

You are joking! It was a theme he came back to repeatedly. Of course he thought about what we would think.

I just hope my attempted rapist has had more nightmares over his knife digging into his private parts than I have had about him dragging me around and telling me he would cut my throat. It's just a shame I never succeeded in cutting it off. That would have been a much better punishment than his short stay in prison.

Not that I am bitter or anything.

You have a theme of rape in the orignal "Extra Lovable" and people say in "Lust You Always" which I have never heard. What other songs does Prince sing about rape? I do not mean sex I mean rape.

If these two songs were not releashed in their orignal form Why would he be thinking about what the public would think if the public was not going to hear the offending lyric.

I am sorry for what you happend to you but I do not think Prince had a pro-rate vibe running threw his music.

To me, it's one of the most sinister lyrics ever from him. However, he's playing a voyeur, and watching a man overpower a woman. But it almost comes across that this is a scenario that they both want to be in (sort of like a dominant and a submissive). "How they play the game" seems to support that. But still - there's an interesting turn that she ends up with the gun, points it at him and makes him masturbate. She cries either out of sadness or just caught up in the moment.

Never understood how anyone found Bob George sinister. I mean, it's just a parody of the hip hop stereotype. He was clearly doing it as a joke / standard hip hop sketch.

"Dead On It" was satire on hip-hop. "Bob George" was an angry man going after his girlfriend with a gun, and eventually ending in a shoot out.

"Papa" is also sinister. "There Is Lonely" is pretty dark, and is a cousin to "Empty Room" for me.

Empty Room is the most beautiful Prince song I have ever heard.

The first time I heard that lyric, it was whispered in my ear by a girl I really had a crush on. That's what started me on this wonderful journey. Also, the fact that the same girl told me that she would pleasure herself to Do Me, Baby. I just love that song just for the memories it brings back.

That's the great part about so many Prince songs--they instantly invoke certain moments in time...

Let's Pretend We're Married was my first favorite Prince song mainly because of the breakdown.

I love the song, but The Marrying Kind always feels sinister to me. First of all, it's being sung as a threat of sorts to the woman's boyfriend. Second, he has an entire plan made for how he will make this woman fall for him, which is kind of creepy. Third, and the big sinister thing to me, it's not clear what his goals are.

Is this a woman he's always loved, and now it's his chance, or is he a stalker? Does he actually plan to marry her, or is he just going to use the breakup as an opportunity to get her into bed? The line about "make her take this ring and make love to me" -- is he actually talking marriage, or is just the promise of getting married (an engagement ring) enough to get her into bed?

Like I said, I do really like this song. I think the genius in it is that you're not sure of his true intentions. And as pickup lines go, flattering a girl on the rebound and promising commitment could be pretty effective.

P.S. -- The bit about putting her on a diet really rubs me the wrong way. People, if he/she already has plans to change you before you're even dating, run! Maybe he is concerned for her health, but that's not the vibe I get. It feels creepy and controlling to me. One of my least favorite Prince lyrics.

I just figured it would have been named already but here we are two pages in and it hasn't. So I guess it's been left up to me to show the hard cold truth. shrug

It's actually...

"Eye Hate U"

U have just accessed the Hate Experience
Do U wish 2 change your entry?
Very well, please enjoy your experience
I never thought that U would be the one
After all the things that we've been through
U gave your body 2 another in the name of fun
I hope U had some baby, if not, boo hoo

It's so sad but I hate U like a day without sunshine
It's so bad but I hate U cuz U're all that's ever on my mind
Honey, I hate U - Now everyday would be a waste of time
Cuz I hate U

I never thought that I could feel this way
2 fall in love was a table reserved 4 fools
Say U're sorry if U wanna but it's all in vain
I'm out the door sweet baby, that's right, we're through

It's so sad but I hate U like a day without sunshine
It's so bad but I hate U cuz U're all that's ever on my mind
Honey, I hate U - Now everyday would be a waste of time
Cuz I hate U

This court is now in session
Would the defendant please rise?
State your name 4 the court
Never mind (Billy Jack Bitch)
U're being charged with one 2 many counts of heartbreaking
In the 1st degree
I don't give a damn about the others
My main concern is U and me

Your honor, may I call 2 the stand my one and only witness?
A girl that know damn well she didn't have no damn business
I know what U did, how U did it and uh.. who U did it with
So U might as well plead guilty cuz U sure can't plead the 5th
Now raise your right hand
Do U swear 2 tell the whole truth
Not the half truth like U used 2 so help U God?
Nod your head one time if U hear me
If U don't, I'll have 2 use the rod
Anything 2 make U see that uh.. U're gonna miss me
Yeah, U're gonna miss me
Uh, uh, uh, oh!

If it please the court
I'd like 2 have the defendant place her hands behind her back
So I can tie her up tight and get into the act
The act of showing her how good it used 2 be
I want it 2 be so good she falls back in love with me

Close your eyes
I'm gonna cover your ass with this sheet
And I want U 2 pump your hips like U used 2
And, baby, U better stay on the beat
Did U do 2 your other man the same things that U did 2 me?
Right now I hate U so much I wanna make love until U see
That it's killin' me, baby, 2 be without U
Cuz all I ever wanted 2 do was 2 be with U ... ow!

I hate U (I hate U)
Because I love U (Because I love U)
But I can't love U (I can't love U)
Because I hate U (I hate U)

Because I love U
I love U, baby
I love U [x3]

I love U cuz U're all that's ever on my mind
I hate U because I love U

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

How about Lady Cab Driver when he's "doing" Jill Jones in the cab as he sings the lyrics below and how he's all like "ughhhh"as he(please forgive me but for lack of a better word)"ramming"the sh** out of her and she's screaming, lol. Tell me it didn't sound like they were really doing it!

"This is for the cab you have to drive for no money at all
This is for why I wasn't born like my brother, handsome and tall
This is for politicians who are bored and believe in war
This, yeah, this one's for me, that's who that one's for <-- That line is so like OMG! Love it!
This is for discrimination and egotists who think supreme
And this is for whoever taught you how to kiss in designer jeans
That one's for, that one's for, for you have to live
This one's for the rich, not all of 'em,just the greedy,
The ones that don't know how to give
This one's for Yosemite Sam and the tourists at Disneyland
And this one oh yeah, that's the one
That's for that's for the, the creator of man
This is for the sun, the moon, the stars, the tourists at Disneyland
This is for the ocean, the sea, the shore
This is for and that's for you, and that's who that one's for
This is for the women, so beautifully complex
This one's for love without sex
This is for the wind that blows no matter how fast or slow...."

* 18 & Over (I want to bone ya). Wow, that's to the point you naughty boy. razz
* Tick, tick bang (oooo,I can't hold it,ooo,it's getting all over me).

There's Others Here With Us

"When I'm alone, my mind takes a drive
Through chocolate religion and spirits alive
All I was brought up, in this world yo know
Is lost when a demon swallows them whole

There's others here wih us
There's others here with us, I know

Strange how your mind works when love is in power
One learns to care; appreciate a flower
Oh what makes others want to change your mind?
All the things I've seen, life is so sublime (so sublime)

There's others here with us
There's others here with us, I know

Seven month old baby died in her sleep
Parents went crazy and cried for a week
They swore they heard her laugh in the crib by the wall
They're convinced she's with us if she's anything at all

There's others here with us
There's others here with us, I know

Bobby had an uncle, who took a string
Wrapped his neck around it, what a pitiful thing
If we could turn back the hands of time
Except there's others here with us, life is sublime

There's others here with us
There's others here with us, I know (I know)

All the things I've seen, all the things I've seen

There's others here with us
There's others here with us, I know..."

That song still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. But I love it.

There's Others Here With Us

"When I'm alone, my mind takes a drive
Through chocolate religion and spirits alive
All I was brought up, in this world yo know
Is lost when a demon swallows them whole

There's others here wih us
There's others here with us, I know

Strange how your mind works when love is in power
One learns to care; appreciate a flower
Oh what makes others want to change your mind?
All the things I've seen, life is so sublime (so sublime)

There's others here with us
