This is some shit. The man who once gave head to his guitar..the man who once sang about the joys of head and incest..the guy who sang about Darling Nikki and how he wanetd to fuck the taste out of Marshas mouth has made TRC and stopped cursing in general. Progress you say. Maybe, maybe not. But its completely appalling, hilarious, astonishing etc etc..pick one..pick something.Its all of those things. Here is this man whos essence wax and image was bad boy etc.
He makes TRC..damn near a christian record (calm down! You know what I mean).

Now what if AC/DC decided to make a record in the same vein as TRC? I wonder what their fanbase would do..how they would react. And if they stopped singing Highway to Hell or reworded it to Highway To Heaven with the verses also changed etc. And stopped singing Hells Bells, Big Balls etc. I dont think they would have an audience of their new material.

Prince did and does. He got away with it. He isn't king of the hill but that's alright. He has an audience for his change so it seems. And that is something--to be out of the machine and to flip the script as he has done FROM what he has done. I mean damn. Its damn near ridiculous when u get down to it..but somewhere way back when I knew he was going to have to stop that stuff sooner or later and do an Al Green. And for the most part his audience has accepted it. Sure there are some sore spots in the change and some drastic movements...but its testament to the man and his music to be able to still have some sort of audience with this change, maturity etc. AC DC fans wouldn't hang on or stick around if they made such changes imo.

Prince got away with it. He has always been spiritual in his music maybe thats why. And maybe folks who aren't informed of everything he has done recently in his music etc have attended the shows for the most part and dont realize his new views or regualation on his past. But I think if they did and to the majority of those who do, that they are still along for the ride. Now that is not testament to only the music or the man but to the audience as well. Adaptability.Its a beautiful thang.

Congrats Prince for pulling a hat trick. I bet he's laughing his ass off. hahah very funny...you still aint getting rid of (some of ) us.

You have to ask yourself what Prince fans want from his music and correspondingly, what AC / DC fans want from their music?

You are absolutely right. AC/DC is one-dimensional (and a crappy dimension at that ) but Prince uses the whole palate.

actually i think a lot of folks don't know about prince's conversion to the JW religion.

i mentioned it to someone who calls himself a fan (he does not go out of his way to check websites like this one) and his reaction was one of utter disbelief.

"prince?! a jehovah's witness? you gotta be shitting me!!! PRINCE!!???" he laughed in my face when i told him about the cussing, no dancers,larry and tina, etc.

i think prince's audience don't make a big deal of his religious content because most of the time people simply listen to the music and not to his words.

he'll always kick musical ass, but i do believe his fan base is changing because of his changes
