Anyone have quotes or links to info about any of these?

And why would Prince call someone else (other than himself) Camille as reported by Quincy Jones himself... who was there?

[Edited 9/20/16 10:57am]

Maybe because he was still trying to keep it a secret and he didn't want Quincy Jones and whomever else was there to know it was actually him?

not "bad" cred

Being 'Bad' was 80s Shit Hop bollocks, so shame on him for getting drawn i suppose .His J5/Jacksons work had already secured his status before 'Off The Wall' sealed it. Then Prince was good enough to acknowledge that work by covering him post death. Good enough for him..

wink

Yes, I am glad you took my clarification the way I intended it. It wasn't a slam at MJ's career at all.

i'm most interested in 'angie' since it was placed on an early configuration
of "the gold experience" and i think that sound would go well with a prince
version of that song.

I've just read in various articles and recording session blurbs. I haven't heard any portion of these myself, nor know anyone who claims to have them.

I swear I listened to a LAP remix from the 12 inch that samples the line "skinny motherfucker with the high voice."

hey, the soundscape for his "creep" cover was great, but the lyrics were so mangled
that i can't listen to it, but the sound was cool lol

"best of you" though, sounded great imo. i would LOVE to be able to pay for a full
version of that one. i must have listened to that snippet a hundred times.

That's one of them, there another more traditional one that breaks into the Bob George beat mid way. It was played in the radio when I was a kid and thought wtf?

That's what Bart is saying without saying. Prince didn't do the remix. Prince was sampled in the remix.

That's what I thought, but the fact that so many people were ignoring the very clear credits on the record label made me think they knew something I didn't.

No it's very obvious on that dub mix above that prince played various instruments on it rather than just be sampled. He had way more involvement than just being sampled. So Bart is completely wrong.

There is no evidence of this though. Nor is there any evidence of Prince being anymore involved with the LAP album than "Lovesong".

It doesn't make sense for him to add instrumentation to an unreleased promo single.

Sense or not, if you have ears you can hear him playing on it.

^ If you mean the guitar.... fair play, it does sound like it could have been Prince. There is even a part that sounds like the solo from "Thieves in the Temple".

But... Chester Kamens is specifically mentioned as recording the guitar on the song.

The keyboards throughout sound very much like Prince and yes also recall the tones from Thieves.

I thought it was a well known fact he worked uncredited on 3/4 songs on LAP?

Well it is a fact now that Prince played the guitar intro on "Like a Prayer" (at least the one you hear in the music video). It was taken off a session of guitar he recorded for another track that they didn't use. He also played rhythm on "Keep it Together" and all the guitar on "Act of Contrition" is him. Madonna revealed all this in an interview.

I highly doubt that.

It is true... have people not been keeping up with all the Prince facts that have dropped?

"

Though Prince is credited as collaborating on Madonna’s “Love Song and “Keep It Together,” what many don’t know is that the artist also played guitar on Madge’s “Like A Prayer.” In an interview celebrating the single 25 years later, producer Patrick Leonard revealed to Billboard that you can distinctly hear Prince’s guitar work at the beginning of the track.

“The guitar that you hear before the door slams…That’s Prince. What happened is [Madonna] sent him something to play on and he played on it and sent it back. And we didn’t feel that what he did served it. But that piece, that beginning, is him,” revealed Leonard. “We just thought it was crazy and really cool.”

"Prince turns up on the album, obviously, on "Love Song," the song he and Madonna did together. I've read that his guitar work is on "Keep It Together" somewhere.

What I know is that his guitar work is on, when you start "Like a Prayer," the guitar that you hear before the door slams…

The distorted guitar?

That's Prince. What happened is, [Madonna] sent him something to play on and he played on it and sent it back. And we didn't feel that what he did served it. But that piece, that beginning, is him.

Recently, I listened to [the song "Like a Prayer"] -- I hadn't heard it years. There's a heavy rock guitar that's in the bridges -- I don't think it's Prince. There's a heavy guitar in the choruses and when I heard it, I thought: "Did we use his guitar in those bridges?" Because the sound is similar to the first sound [in the opening], but it's not exactly the same. . . . But I know for a fact that we did use that [Prince] thing as the intro, because we just thought it was crazy and really cool. I seem to recall that that's all we used, but I could be wrong."

"

Madonna’s 1989 album Like a Prayer, arguably her finest full-length record, ends with “Act of Contrition,” which is, well, a novelty track. The Andrae Crouch Choir from the title track returns, only now the tape is run backwards, and there’s a skronking guitar solo—it’s chaotic and even a little scary, in an Old Testament-meets-Danceteria way. Madonna fumbles through a half-forgotten prayer from her Catholic childhood. “I reserve… I resolve,” she says. “I have a reservation. What do you mean it’s not in the computer?

That apocalyptic guitar certainly sounds like Prince showing off. He and Madonna collaborated on another track on the same album: the grinding, not really successful “Love Song,” which was largely done by the two of them mailing tapes back and forth to each other. But the credits for “Act of Contrition” just say, “Produced by the Powers That Be.” Asked about the song’s creation, Madonna said she improvised the lyrics: “Whatever was on my head. It’s totally unedited.” And Prince?” He played guitar on it. He also played guitar on ‘Keep it Together’,” which hit #8 in 1990: one more gold single for the Paisley Park walls. “We didn’t have to prove anything to each other,” Madonna analyzed. “And I don’t think he’s had that same opportunity with other people that he’s worked with. Because generally he tends to dominate everything.”"

We know he contributed a couple things but saying 3/4 of it is him is way over the top.im just saying it's doubtful. Highly doubtful

Again, we'll know more soon enough when people feel like talking more and sift through the vaults.
