I dig the antidrug stance....and that Prince was angelic outside of his phillandering ways

But truth is.... Man did get high once in a while in his youth...and that is my opinion - as yours is he was teetotal...

Difference of opinion...

I have been around drugs for 30yrs (sober for 20 of them!) and still party with those that dabble.

Pills mis-labelled.... c'mon dude... tis a classic

And please watch the JB, MJ performance.... MJ knew Prince was charlied-up and thats why he got JB to beckon him for a face-off

MJ knew Prince was high as a mofo - and seized on embarrassing him

I do believe the OD was accidental - but he definitely was au-fait with drugs

We will courteously agree to dis-agree on this speculation...

I guess we will have to agree to disagree but it is no shock to me that my question about Where are the stories is never answered by anyone on this board and that you yourself used drugs.

Current and former drug users always think everyone else is using drugs. It is called projecting. If I had a dollar for everytime someone I knew who used drugs refused to believe I never used them I would be a rich woman.

I also see a hugh difference between Prince getting on the stage drunk at a concert at which he was called up on stage inpromtu and going out on a drug buy. Or maintaining constant drug use from 85 to 2016 and never had one effect or his productivity. It is simply not possible.

Stevie Nicks just spoke about this issue in an article yesterday:

.

"Former Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks has opened up on her close friendship with Prince. According to Nicks, the Purple Rain hitmaker detested drug use despite the fact he died of an accidental drug overdose in April.

.

Nicks, 68, and Prince, who was 57 at the time of his death, developed a close bond after collaborating together on her 1983 single Stand Back. However, Nicks says her drug use was to blame for them not spending much time together and they grew apart.

In an interview with AP, Nicks said of Prince's initialattitude towards drugs: "He hated them. And he hated that I did drugs and that's probably why we didn't hang out more.

.

"He was worried that I would die of an accidental drug overdose and my sadness is that he did die of an accidental drug overdose. He's up there looking down, saying to me, 'Sweetie, I can't believe it happened either'.""

it's hard to know what really happened. but if it did go down the way described, then prince was kind of mean to sheena. doing that the way he did put the joke on her. maybe if he'd included her when deciding on the silence route, the two of them could have had fun together. but it sounds like he sort of hurt her feelings, for his own amusement. kind of a kid thing to do. i probably would have popped out at the first stop light...

Maybe. I just feel if he had of started doing it without telling her anything, then I'd of found that offensive but he did say something, and he was a kid then a kind of spoilt one in that time period, I would suppose one would expect some oddities, of all the bratty things young men can do, this kind of thing is very mundane and simple to play off and be silly with.

absolutely. it could have been super funny, with both people playing along. but, the way its described, it sounds like sheena didn't really like it and felt uneasy

that's been discussed forever, I don't know if he was or he wasn't. I know he made a fool of himself and he was acting wierd but he often acted wierd. it could be he was bombing and he tried to play it off like that. anyway, the only stories we got about drugs are the anectdote where he experimented with exstacy from Ingrid Chavez and that he would occasionally drink wine.Did he try other drugs? I'm sure he did at times along the way. there is a video of him ducking behind a stage and coming out blowing a puff of smoke out. Did I ever think it would be a problem for him? Not in a million years but it can happen to anyone i guess.

I loved his sense of humour, haha what a tease. And who knows what he could have been doing in that mansion for 30 minutes lol. It is true though that silence can sometimes make people feel bare and uncomfortable and most people would have probably had the same urge to fill the gaps instead of simply "being" and enjoying the moment. Maybe this is where Prince was getting at, to see Sheena's true personnality and also how comfortable she was in different situations. Rum and raisins ice-cream, what a good choice.

This is not a reflection of a sense of humour, his behaviour looks more like playing games and exercising power.I've read in a number of places that he liked to make people feel uncomfortable. There is a video of him being interviewed by Maria Bartinoro (spelling?) and he is sort of flirting and making her uncomfortable at the same time.

Funny, I was actually just watching that interview earlier and was thinking that the intimidation seems mostly being initiated by her and for a presenter she appears unusually uncomfortable, like she's exagerating it a little. Perhaps it was her first show or something or maybe she fancies him. That's just my personal impression. He wasn't that intimidating really, once you got close and he wasn't acting "Princey", he was actually really cool to be around.

Many people who didn't know him personally are casting judgement on him. Believing they knew his thoughts, intentions, what was in his body, etc.

This is not what I meant. I meant that she looked like she was feeling or acting intimidated but it might not be anything to do with his behaviour, more her "acting" that way. This is what it looks like to me anyway.

I said he wasn't intimidating (ie. to me) because I didn't feel intimidated when I met him, more elated and over the moon but not intimidated. So when I say in my other post above "once you got close and he wasn't acting "Princey", he was actually really cool to be around." I am talking about how it felt next to him, according to my own experience of meeting him.
