Prince the Album: "When We're Dancing Close and Slow"

I treated myself to this yesterday.
Since 4/21 I've gone from pop 80s music to his last album to AOA (those two have kept me plenty satisfied for two months now) and now I've bought "Prince" the album. I'm 7 years younger than he was so I missed a lot of this but remember some of it.

Favorite song: "When we're Dancing Close and Slow".

He was so sweet in this song and his voice was so soft. I can hear the earnestness and sincerity in his wanting this album to be good, how hard he worked on it, and his interest in and love for music and what he was doing.

His young vocals are so perfect.
It's a very attracting song.
The drums are real nice too.
There's a hint in this song of what we were going to be getting.

It's still stunning to me how much he could do at that age.
And his youthful concept of sex and romance were out of sight.

We've really lost someone special. I just hope he knew how much he was loved.
I know he knows it now, that's for sure.

Anyone else like this song a lot?

Great words anangellooksdown. I too think this is a very beautiful and well balanced album. I love each and every song on it though like you I have a soft spot for When We're Dancing Close And Slow, followed closely by Sexy Dancer and It's Gonna Be Lonely.

To be honest, it's quite like Hit n run phase 1 to me. They're like the same album just decades and cultures apart to me. Listen to HNR1 then Prince and you'll see what I mean - it's him jammin' a genre and opening up the end of songs for his instrumental prowess. Nothing too serious subject matter wise but good and virtuosic craft.

Solid album though - the self titled. Needs more love imo.

Agree with everybody else's wise insight.
Have not gotten HNR Ph II yet but am starting to look forward to it.
I listen to the song we're discussing here and I miss Prince so much. Unjust can't believe it sometimes. Life is really strange sometimes. I'm always reminded by him that I've got to do what I can each day to give.
His music is so beautiful.
Can't believe it went so fast.

Have any of you all seen this?

It makes me so curious to see how much of his stuff is in the vault. I wonder if what is stated here is indicative of *all* his music in terms of how much was unreleased.

He may be far greater than we even realize.

Just the thought of that is so astounding to me.
