, I did not see Norwegian sales mentioned. What are the Dutch sales? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

It would be interesting to know the Dutch sales,as this is one of the few countries that Prince had more top10 hits than in the USA. I admire them for that among other things!

This recent bIllboard articles confirms that my US sales estimations were correct :
http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/7541106/prince-music-vault-shopped-purple-rain-deluxe-edition?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Breaking+News&utm_term=biz_breakingnews
. "Since his death on April 21, Prince has sold 1.95 million albums and 4.9 million song downloads in the U.S. through the week ending Oct. 6, according to Nielsen Music. " .
In fact, on this 4.9 million singles, 550.000 are accounted for PURPLE RAIN only. 90 % of the singles sales are sold in the week following his death. Acoording to my estimations, the song PURPLE RAIN sold 800.000 ex worldwide, KISS and WHEN DOVES CRY maybe sold about 600.000.
The 4EVER Prince effect will surely add another 500 k album until the end of 2016. [Edited 10/29/16 3:19am] [Edited 10/29/16 3:22am]

Can I just ask why anyone cares about album sales anymore? Prince is dead, his legacy is what it is and anyone is free to have an opinion on that and/or his commercial viability or lack thereof. The fascination with compiling and comparing the stats of artists record sales after their deaths is a bit creepy, although it is Halloween weekend so I guess that explains this somewhat.I had hoped people would leave things like this alone and just enjoy the music and the memories but I guess with two albums coming up, it was only a matter of time. I don't think in the wake of Prince's death that album sales equate to caring as much as the tributes and gatherings and parties and purple that covered the globe. Still, if you want to interpret that Bowie was more loved and/or a bigger commercial star than Prince based off of the sales after their deaths then so be it.

You do understand that sale plateaus are very different in every country. Platinum I'm the USA is 1mill,while I'm Britain it's 300000. In Australia it's 70,000. So it's a rather miopic statement to make that the rest of the world doesn't seem to care. Last I noticed the whole world mourned his loss.amd bought his music.not to mention that music just doesn't sell period like it used to. Something prince tried to warn us about and come up with creative ways to get the music to the public. ..like adding copies to the mail on Sundays in Britain.
