Best Prince live guitar perfomaces playlist

I need some help!! I am going on a road trip with someone who has no clue how good Prince is on guitar. I want to make a 4 hour playlist on my ipod to school him. Any suggestions? They HAVE to be great quality and preferably live. Poor quality won't work for this playlist. Thanks in advance

So far I have

Joy in Repitition from ONA boxset

Family Name from ONA Box set

Peach from sacrifice of victor

Bambi from the Undertaker

Superbowl performance

Fury from SNL

Santana medley from 6-9-94

Anotherlover from superbowl press conference

Any other really good recomendations?

Shhh....Coachella.

Gets lost due to the absorbing Creep performance, but P was out to prove his guitar god status to this Woodstock wannabe crowd.

The solo on 'still would stand all time' from small club is superior to the one on just my imagination imo.

Erotic City from 1984 Birthday show
The Ride from Manchester show 2014
French TV show (?)from 2011- plays Shh and Controversy

All down to personal taste. Both solos are incredible, though.

Nice. In love with this right now. Realized recently that this is one of my favorite solos of his, so late in his career too.

Chaos and Disorder from the Paisley Park Dance Rally for Peace
Question of U/The One/Electric Man from Baltimore Dance Rally for Peace
When Eye Lay My Hand on U from Montreux 2009
Shhh from Cochella

Not sure where you can find it in prestine quality but the guitar playing at the end of Xenophobia during most of ONA tour (New York and Berlin are some of the best) is incredible, as are the Santana medleys on this tour, as is any time he picks up a guitar on this tour. However, if memory serves, the guitar on the box set version of xenophobia isn't as strong.

Concur with this...Never seen / heard him do that rendition of the solo before - and it's fabulous!

.

In addition - the Septimo (Madrid) 1999 live TV performance of 'Motherless Child'. That is some dirrrty sounding guitaring there! biggrin

Let's Go Crazy - Dortmund '88
Purple Rain - Dortmund '88
The Cross - Dortmund '88
Motherless Child - PP Studios '99

The Question Of U and Bambi from Nude '90 and Just My Imagination - Small Club The Hague '88 have already been named and should be on that playlist.

Maybe Blues In C/If I Had A Harem - Dortmund '88 should be up there too.

Maybe it's best to let him see it on YouTube/DVD in stead of just let this person listen to it.
That way he can see that Prince did more during a solo than just play the guitar: dance, giving the band directions, making fun with the audience etc. Speaking of multi-tasking cool

Purple Rain Atlanta '85 is freaking epic. If I had to choose one live PR version to take with me on an island, this would be it.

And I can listen to P do Crimson and Clover all day. There's a pretty decent quality version from the Ellen DeGeneres show.

And I also second everything else that has been listed smile.

Same here with a co-worker of mine. He only knew P as "the guy from PR". Now he's suddenly much more interested and had absolutely no clue whatsoever that P was such a hell of a guitar player.

When you were mine from Montreux 2009.

Forever in my life from Small club.

When we're dancing close and slow - Montreux 2013 (electric), NSJ 2011 (acoustic)

Noone has mentioned She's always in my hair!?

The Montreux 2013 version is fine, but there are many I think (1993 tour for instance).

I really liked the guitar playing on the 3EG Youtube video of Crimson&Clover from Lisbon 2013ish, but AFAIK that concert was never released on bootleg.
