I like "Get on up" "Fun" The radio segue wasn't Don't Worry Be Happy by jazz vocalist Bobby McFarren? Yes, it just similar to lyrics in the Public Enemy's track Fight the Power. Probably just a coincidence I will take my place, In the great below

Funny, but when I've thought of Carmen Elektra over the years (which isn't very often), this guy's face pops into my head instead of Prince's... . Yellow hair, purple boxers, ok...

The track was written by Tony M. and Levi Seacer, Jr., and produced by Prince (although no producer credit was given, other than Paisley Park as executive producer). It is possible Prince also contributed to writing the track, but this has not been confirmed. While specific recording dates are not known, initial tracking took place between Spring, 1991 and early 1992 (at one of Record Plant, Hollywood, CA, USA, Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA or Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA). It was included as the third track on a 15 June, 1992 configuration of Carmen Electra's debut album, then titled On Top (with the artist credit "Carmen"). The released version contains a sampled chant from Say It Loud - I'm Black And I'm Proud by James Brown PrinceVault

The album was given the title On Top, but was later changed to Carmen Electra.
26th August 1991. Prince spends a few days at Larrabee Studio in L.A, he works on Power From Above for the Carmen Electra album. By now, Prince was half way through the album.

PrinceVault Step To The Mic is the fourth track on Carmen Electra's only album Carmen Electra. The track was written by Prince, Monie Love and Levi Seacer, Jr., and produced by Prince (although no producer credit was given, other than Paisley Park as executive producer). While specific recording dates are not known, Mark Forrester's credit as a recording engineer suggests that initial tracking took place in mid-April 1992, at Platinum Studios, Melbourne, Australia (while also on the Diamonds And Pearls Tour, during the same set of sessions as 51 Hours, Don't Talk 2 Strangers, Poor Little Bastard, The Rest Of My Life, There Is Lonely, Be My Mirror, Wow, and re-recordings of Make Believe and I'll Do Anything). It is likely (though uncertain) that Monie Love's vocals were recorded on 18 June 1992, at Olympic Studios, London, England during a day off on the Diamonds And Pearls Tour (along with her vocals on Everybody Get On Up). It was not included on a 15 June 1992 configuration of Carmen Electra's debut album, then titled On Top (with the artist credit "Carmen"), indicating that Prince wasn't satisfied with the track before Monie Love's vocals were added. Carmen Electra - vocals Prince - all instruments, except where noted Michael B. - drums Sonny T. - bass guitar Levi Seacer, Jr. - guitar Tommy Barbarella - keyboards Rosie Gaines - keyboards Tony M. - vocals Monie Love - background vocals Michael B. Nelson - trombone Steve Strand - trumpet Dave Jensen - trumpet Kathy J. - baritone saxophone Brian Gallagher - tenor saxophone

Late March 1992. A video for Carmen Electra's Go Go Dancer is shot at John Marshall High School in L.A. Rapper Monie Love guested in the video.
25th April 1992. Prince records Everybody Get On Up for the Carmen Electra album at Studio 301 in Sydney Australia during the Diamonds & Pearls tour.
4th May 1992. The first version of the album Carmen Electra is compiled. The tracklist was Power From Above, Carmen On Top, Go On (Witcha Bad Self), Fun, Skin Tight, Go Carmen Go, Good Judy Girlfriend, Fantasia Erotica, Powerline, Just A Little Lovin', All That, This Is My House, Go Go Dancer and The Juice. The album would undergo several changes before it was finally released in early 1993. Five of the tracks from the 4th May configuration were taken off the album and shelved, Power From Above, Carmen On Top, Go Carmen Go, Powerline and The Juice.
25th May 1992. Carmen Electra opens for Prince as part of the European leg of the Diamonds & Pearls tour. her set was 20 minutes long. Her band were Jason Cameron(guitar), Jack Robin(bass), Greg Sain and Morris Hayes(keyboards), JP Delaire(sax), Jamie Chezz(drums) and Kathleen Johnson(backing vocals). Morris Hayes would later become a member of the NPG. Her set was dropped halfway through the tour. Her voice did not carry well with a live band in large arenas. Prince tried to salvage her act by putting the blame on her band members, who were all replaced one by one with NPG members. The only one who remained from her original band was Hayes.
31st May 1992. A promo party for Carmen Electra's forthcoming album is held at the Berlin club Exit. Prince and most of the NPG were in attendance.
15th June 1992. A second version of Carmen's album is compiled. Apart from The Juice being shelved, the album was the same as the May 4th configuration. Promo ads on MTV and in music magazines appeared, as the album was due to be released on July 25th 1992. A single and video of Go Go Dancer had also been released. However, the release was put on hold as WB decided that some of the album tracks would have to be replaced with new material.

It appears that, from the beginning,Warners were never really convinced that Carmen would be the next big thing. They clearly had doubts about her album, which is why it was delayed repeatedly.
