1. Warner Bros. along with NPG Records, same as #PRINCE4EVER they have the cover and the album. He picked out the cover earlier this year.

Actually happier about this than the prospect of getting old vault tracks. Not that old vault tracks aren't exciting, but there's nothing like a NEW Prince album.

It's been years since Dr F had the inside track with Prince - why are we taking his word on this?

I'm not sure that's true. Wasn't he personally flown in by Prince to be at what was ultimately his final Paisley party? I remember reading a tweet or something by DFB that his minders were kind of freaked to see him there, as they were usually the ones who did the bookings.

if you've listened to his podcasts he was quite friendly with Prince over the last few years. Prince even ponied up the money for Dr' Funks medical bill when he was ill a few years ago. he gave him the scoop. he even wanted to sell music on the Dr's website.

I hope hope hope this comes out! Phase 3 would be awesome!

I defintely haven't listened - but if that was true, why did the scoops dry up? Saying this stuff after Prince is gone (and therefore can't deny it) is a bit suspect, right?

I'm not sure the scoops dried up. I think he just posted more to twitter than his site.

He's interviewed two former engineers & Morris Hays in the past couple of weeks. Judith before P died. I can't see any reason to doubt what he's saying.

I can't think of any news or exclusives he had in the last couple years, on twitter or elsewhere.

would it be Phase 3 or Black is the new Black though? i don't think either one of those
was ready last year? so maybe something else entirely? yet, eventhough prince told
fans there was no Phase 3 (yet), he might have already sent if off to warners.
it would be nice to have an album with "free urself" on it.

ah, speculation about the new album can't believe we're doing this again it's so
nice to focus on something positive in the future.

^^^ Well I'm not about to trawl his twitter feed to find examples. But he always seemed to be in the loop to some degree.

The way that the former associates talked to him suggested some degree of familiarity. I think Prince would have made it known if they'd had a falling out.

AFAIK There was an EP called Rough Enough with MonoNeon. Black is the new black was the newest album he was working on, but I don't know which band or how far along it was.

Let what go? Being at a party does not mean you have access to insider info - and I maintain that Dr F's status as Prince's mouthpiece ended a few years ago.

Its Black is the New Black isnt it? Didn't Mono say there were about 8 tracks that he new about, that he played on, that were new. IF so they could just release that or bump it up with a couple of extra tracks on it from the vault. Dr Funkenberry said in his podcast that Ruffenuff was part of an EP prince was going to put on tidal. But not part of Black is the new Black. That was different. So fingers crossed. But sad at the same time.

I think once he (Prince) got on twitter he didn't really need a mouthpiece. Even if that's the case he clearly still had/has contacts.
