Prince and Marc Bolan/T. Rex While I was listening to T. Rex today, I went back to old org threads on Bolan's influence on Prince. Did Prince ever cover anything from Bolan? "Bang A Gong" has Prince written all over it. Same with "Jeepster."

Peach also sounds T-Rex inspired. I wouldn't be surprised if Prince was a fan.

Early in Prince's career, a music critic remarked that he was, "A beautiful little mover," like Bolan. He was so right. And the MUSIC continues...forever...

Prince probably heard T. Rex's "Get it on" on the radio a few times and dug it, exibited bythe song "Cream." I think those 2 songs are cool. > One more example of how people get a kick out of copying sounds and styles that they admire to make something new and exciting that's rooted in the tasteful (or maybe not-so-tasteful) past. While digging around for a Marc Bolan quote I came across the following article in The Quietus by Neil Kulkarni, "Pop Fragility & Dissolution: A Marc Bolan Reappraisal" (http://thequietus.com/art...ues-review). It's pretty interesting. This writer's description of Bolan's pop muisician career sounds similar to that of Prince.

It would make sense: the mystique and the star power are all there. Love T. Rex's stuff from 1971-1973 a lot. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!
