The Funk and The Class - Prince & Sade

30 December 1985
: Voodoo Who is an unreleased cover version of Villanova Junction by Jimi Hendrix. Prince's version was recorded on 30 December 1985 (the same day Eric Leeds added overdubs to A Couple Of Miles and that Most Strongest Whiskey and U Gotta Shake Something were recorded) at Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA. Prince adds some lyrics from Is It A Crime by Sade, written by Sade, Stuart Matthewman and Andrew Hale (included on her 1985 album Promise). It is unknown if this track was intended for The Flesh album or any other project.

December 1989
: NPG Radio Show plays Stronger Than Pride.

2 September 2005
: S.S.T. was first available as a download on the NPG Music Club within 24 hours of its recording in response toHurricane Katrina's destruction of New Orleans, MO, USA. Two days later, the song was offered as a download bundle with Brand New Orleans and Mavis Staples' You Will Be Moved. Eight weeks later, a CD single of S.S.T. was released.

Initial tracking took place on 2 September 2005 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, as Prince watched footage of Hurricane Katrina's effects on the city of New Orleans while listening to Sade's The Sweetest Taboo (from the 1985 album Promise, also released as a single), which became the acronym used for the song's title ("Sade's Sweetest Taboo").

"S.S.T." is also an acronym for "sea surface temperature", which can be used in forecasting hurricanes. Brand New Orleans, which is based around the final instrumental section of S.S.T., was recorded at the same session.

10 February 2007
: Prince performs Cherish The Day (with Shelby J) at 3121 Jazz Cuisine @ Rio Hotel & Casino.

2 Jnurary 2009
: Prior to the album’s release, Prince told the Guardian,We got sick of waiting for Sade to make a new album.”

25 July 2011
:
Shelby J performs Cherish The Day at Melkweg - The Max.

6 August 2011
: Prince intended to perform Cherish The Day (with Shelby J) at Amager Bio, according to a setlist found.

27 July 2013
: 3rdEye TV Show #17 plays Cherish The Day.

Late June 2015
: Hardrocklover is the eighth track on Prince's 38th album Hitnrun Phase One. Ten weeks before the album's release,Hardrocklover was released as the album's second single (although no album was announced at the time of the single's release, and when the album was announced Hardrocklover was retroactively called the album's lead-off single, asFallinlove2nite had been over a year earlier).

The song was first made available to stream on the Prince3EG Soundcloud account the week before, and was added to Tidal before the single release.

Many would consider Prince to be among them most influential R&B performers ever, and the music he produced within that genre as some of the sexiest of all time. The Purple One himself has taken a very different attitude in his new song however, declaring during "HARDROCKLOVER" that he's just what the title suggests.

"Sade and Babyface / R&B ain't got no place," he sings. "Put some hard rock on / You better cover your ears 'cause you're 'bout to hear a woman just scream."

Ooh, bold words. Surely he could have aimed his invective at Jason Derulo or Chris Brown...not our beloved Sade and Babyface? Either way, there are two ways to interpret the line "turn my guitar up so I can make this woman scream." Anyone who has listened to "Purple Rain" knows that the performer knows his way around six strings...but then again everyone familiar with the '70s knows that there's no symbol more phallic than an electric guitar.

I was also under the impression that there was a youtue video recently that contained audio of Is It A Crime being performed with Prince at an aftershow. Som of his friends were on vocals.
