Chanhassen

I know Paisley Park is in Chanhassen. What other places in Chanhassen did Prince go to or were special to Prince? I've heard there's a mural on the side of a movie theatre (near Paisley Park) and a record store Prince went to. Does anyone know the names of these? My twin sister and I are from North Carolina and will be flying into Minneapolis on Thursday, going to a Twins Convention in South Dakota on Labor Day weekend, driving back to Minneapolis the following Monday and flying out on Tuesday (at least we'll have another day in Minnesota). I know we won't have much time to spend in Chanhassen or Minneapolis, but if anyone knows of somewhere my twin (who is also a big Prince fan) can go visit while we're there, please let me know. It's so depressing that Paisley Park will be open to the public in October and we're going in September. That's why we're trying to cram in as many Prince sights as we can.

on my Minneapolis Prince agenda is. 1: the house Prince grew up in at 539 Newton Ave( Tyka still lives there and Prince owns it). 2: the Purple Rain house ( Prince owns it),. 3: First Avenue night club 4: Electric Fetus record store,. 5: Paisley Park! 6:, The wall mural ,,,. And if anyone has any suggestions.....
I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

Great suggestions. I'll add Bunker's to the list.

The mural in Chanhassen is on the, west side of the Chanhassen cinema.
There is another mural in Mpls in the Uptown neighborhood that was painted following his death. It's at the corner of 26th st and Hennepin av.
I would skip Bunker's and go to the dakota jazz club instead if you have time for that. But neither is a must-see since you have a rather full agenda already.
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Totally disagree with this. Bunker's on Sunday or Monday night (when the Combo plays) is much better - because of all the Prince-connected folk who play in that band.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

You could also visit the Mall of America in Bloomington as well as the other areas people have suggested on here.

Hello - I lived in Chanhassen for many years and know that he also liked Caribou Coffee because saw him there more than once. Both the Chanhassen location and the one a few miles away on Hwy 5 and Eden Prairie Drive. Enjoy your trip!
