Sweet Realizations about the Man Prince Was

What I've been diggin a lot this week is the video of Prince DJ'ing at his house. Have you seen it?

It was from January and for some reason seeing him doing something different than performing on stage, and watching him being in his own comfort zone at home, is really precious to me.

I picture him takin a shower beforehand up in his apartment, gettin nice and clean and sharp as always even in comfortable house clothes, then headin downstairs to the dance party! So sweet and generous!

But what really caught my eye and told me the most about Prince was the crowd he was hosting in his home. They just looked like regular good people...all ages...weren't necessarily beautiful-looking or the best dancers I've ever seen...and they were obviously just enjoying themselves with their 80s dance moves smile ...and Prince was enjoying being a part of it.

It tells me a lot about this man.

I think it really pleased Prince to make people happy...just average Joes or Janes like me. I think we were the ones he really cared about. He wanted people to be happy so he contributed to that in his own way.

Thanks, Prince. I see it. I do.

It was like the bicycle he rode. Not some souped-up racing model. It was the kind of bike we all had in the 60s. He was in many ways just a normal guy.

I always found it really facinating that Prince created his own little community at Paisley Park with his friends and fans. Maybe because he had a rough upbringing and strained relationship with his real family members and felt misunderstood by them much of the time, it was important for him to create his own "family" using the music. I always found it inspiring how he was able to find the strength and fortitude to get past a tough childhood and create the kind of life that would suit him best with his purple family. heart

Your reflection brought fresh tears to my eyes, angellooksdown. He seems like such a gentle, fun-loving soul. I, too, love the short video of him deejaying. I don't know if the mods will snip it, but here's the link to "Prince the DJ": https://www.youtube.com/w...3BKFk6Qg_g

I saw a video of him recently saying it's good to create your own space then bring the people you want into it.

Of all the vids and pics of this man, this is by far my all time favorite. What a good man, friend and neighbor.

These lyrics are a beautiful description of Prince's community in 1985

Around the world in a day {repeat to fade}
Oh yeah!
All the little babies sing around the world
A government of love and music boundless in its unifying power {fade out}
A nation of art 2 production
Sharing ideas, a shower of flowers

November, 1999

His Highness Gets Down!
By Karl Coryat

Starting with 1982’s 1999, Prince began crediting a band, the Revolution, on his recordings. Though he still played many of the parts, over the next few albums the Revolution played an increasingly important role. "I wanted community more than anything else.

I think he got such joy from opening his 'house' - he truly wanted to give everyone access (as long as it was on his terms) to his world smile

i was there that night. Earlier he was dancing (whislt watching Larry) to my left - 10 feet away!! yes everyday normal people and about 50 odd of us from Europe came over. looking back how blessed we were to have seen those gigs and the DJ battle was good fun.

He was a great musician and and very very kind man in so many ways. when the tickets went on sales a few got worried we wouldnt get in when we hade already booked flights and hotels. I tweeted athat a host doesnt invite to you his home and leave you stadning in the cold. When the tickets sold out Adrian tweeted asking who had flights but no tickets (just to be sure that we all got in - sweet) also during hit and run in the Uk we were getting wet lining up and he sent over umbrellas. a few gigs later we got hot choclate

it saddens me when fans rant amount this and that but he was human and no doubt alot of people tried to rip him off one way or another but deep down we all loved him

I would love to see video of Prince being Prince outside the stage. I love watching the clip of him riding his bike. Almost makes me want to get on a bike. I haven't been on a bike nor do I own a bike. But you never know what life will bring to your

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince
