Who is gonna put money into a Prince biopic?

First of all, Prince is a rare case of being a rockstar due to his hardcore fans only.
Only by their harsh proselytism was Prince able to perform at the Superbowl.
I'm exaggerating, but not so much.

So who's going to care for Prince's life, outside of Purple Rain,
which is already a biopic?
They did not care for the Lovesexy era, why the audience would
when the biopic is going to be about five minutes long about it?

We know nothing about the man' private life, and good luck for making
his true friends talk, they will keep their mouth shut.

And just when you think you have some drama with Boy Gregory's death,
how are you going to depict Mayte and Prince apparent denial
and not make the main character a total sociopath?

And, given he spent most of his life either in the studio or on stage,
how are you going to make the former interesting (yawn),
and the latter as good as, say, 1986 Prince?
Even if you have an excellent dancer, he won't have the looks,
the grin, and exsude the sense of an impeding danger (when you experienced a Prince concert for the 1st time,

you never knew what to expect) .

So you're left with making up shit.
With a guy that has to try to much. With no tangible matter to build his character upon.

Good luck with that razzie.

I think you're under-estimating the dramatic potential of P's life, and the level of interest that there is both in him and in biopics in general (all sorts of lesser eelebs than P have had films made of their lives).

"Ray" is difficult to watch one you've seen "Walk Hard".

But "Great Balls Of Fire" and "The Doors" are good examples.
Yes, it's doable, but pretty dangerous.

You REALLY need one heck of a talent, plus the eyes.
The real issue are the eyes.

I mean, as an actor, I would freak out: if I were
to really jump in Prince's skin,
so deep so my eyes got like his, wide open from within,
to get this otherwordly eyes,
a shaman having visions,
I would fear going nuts.

So, either an Oscar, or a Razzie.

Yes, a man touched by God devoured by his own work ethics,
that's quite an honorable pitch.
But there is also the relationship parts... Good luck for coming up with something honest.

Because nobody cares about P enough for his true story to be interesting. I'd love to either make it myself or executive produce it right into an Oscar for the sole purpose of trotting over to Cerbere (I simply cannot abide getting any closer to France than that. I break out into...beret wearing chain smoking pretention. Ugh) and wedge a copy directly into your...hand.

Seems like they could move forward with a true sequel to Purple Rain, a semiautobigraphical story about "The Kid" after his rise to fame... his latter day career and eventual death. Include unreleased material in the soundtrack. Would be hard to watch but I would want to see it... depending on the treatment and casting.

While he doesn't look a lot like him, he's younger, and .....well, Bryshere Gray might be an option. Or maybe Andre.

There's Jussie Smollett, too.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Cast Daniel Day-Lewis as Morris Day, Christian Bale as Andre Cymone, and Helen Mirren as Owen Husney, and we got ourselves a hit.

Omg, don't forgot Samuel L. Jackson as Vanity. Wait. Before you say no...he's sure to make it a hit.

Let Tarantino direct.

And in her first big screen turn...Celine Dion as Prince.

We'd be handed the Canadian audience on a plate!

They missed the chance to do this right back in '84, but they could try again: John Travolta. [Before you start attacking--Magnoli has said that when they were prepping for Purple Rain, it was suggested that they should have Travolta "play Prince"].

I knew this would come up eventually. I actually had the thought that you could make a really interesting movie out of the Australian Piano & a Microphone Tour, which I was privileged to see some of and attend one of the afterparties for... I have been turning over these events in my mind obsessively ever since. I had a key moment during his Sydney afterparty when the door to the club's exclusive back room swung open and I saw him through a small crack in the door frame, in a second of vision that I committed to my memory forever--- Prince sitting in a purple room full of candles, wearing flares, his high heels up on a glass table, working on something on his Macbook, looking lost in his work or something he was reading. This is the essence of the drama. Just focus on those few weeks. Prince playing these last shows to acclaim, keeping his illness to himself, making peace with his old friends-- calling Morris Day, Jill Jones, Apollonia on the sly. Reflecting on his life. Dancing with everyone at the Melbourne afterparty, his minder turning to the DJ and saying "He never does this. Ever" which is a real quote... People wondering what's up. I can just imagine the scenes, how you'd film it. I remember they made a film called 'The Night They Called It a Day' about Frank Sinatra's notorious visit to Australia in the 1970s, you could do it somewhat like that. Of course it's way too early to think about anything like this and we don't even know the whole story yet. Just fan musings.

How about..her! Some facial hair, she could carry him through all his different eras. She would need to practice the voice though. Maybe Lenny can be the voice.

I kid..I really don't think anyone can do it.
