Also, according to Dr Funkenberry, somebody close to the museum project was speculating whether to place Prince's urn by the elevator...

...I take anything Dingleberry says with pinch of salt

I get the feeling we're going to hear more rumors like this that may or may not be true. Anil Dash has been much more positive about it. He tweeted that PP was a magical place and he's so glad the public will get to see it. The family is dammed no matter what they do. If God forbid PP ended up having to be sold they'd never hear the end of it.

God knows what's gonna be said in the yrs 2 come, never mind decades. Especially when promotion &/or cash is needed.

Any idea what VIP tickets are ? What's the difference

Yeah - I'm confused. Can you only get VIP if you're in a group or is there something else you get to see/do as an individual with a VIP ticket versus the standard $38 ticket?

i wasn't one of the lucky ones who got to visit while he was there - a place so vibrant, so full of life and creativity.

i can't fathom it being a place for relics.

What about the urn maker who said they created a special repository for Prince's cremains? Someone else mentioned the elevator is off of the atrium; the atrium is the one place I would like to see with the large symbol and everything else. I would assume they will install some type of wall or doors around the elevator so no one will see it. My opinion is they should have waited a year then opened the place up. Really, does anyone think they'll make enough money to put a dent in the tax bill? The tours will pay the operating expenses, but that might just be it. Sorry for being no negative (again). I hope everyone who goes feels comfort walking into the building.

''There is a park that is known

Colorful people whose hair
On 1 side is swept back''

And I'm going to be among them very soon. I fully support the opening of the complex for tours.

What brings me to tears is the proposed "construction" involving the doorways and such. I'm absolutely excited to go and see everything, but at the same time it feels like they're violating Prince's vision of the building.

How many here are planning a trip in October? I need to get with the Mrs to see if she'll take the time off work.

Those who aren't comfortable will just wait. Might be worth the wait anyway because I bet it will improve over time if not everything was ready and as they get feedback from attendees.

I have it on good authority that Laura R. will be conducting "special" tours at PP for org members she disagrees with. The sign up sheet is almost to capacity so act quickly. Bring a will. eek

I'm assuming some of these changes are required in order to open it up? It didn't seem like major changes, just getting things up to fire/building code etc.

Although it's bittersweet right now, I'm very relieved to hear that Paisley Park is being preserved for past, present, and future fans to experience. I was afraid it would be sold. I very much hope it's successful so the doors can stay open for years to come.

Prince opened Paisley to fans when he was alive, so I see nothing wrong with the estate continuing that tradition as long as it's done in a respectful manner.

Well said that is how I am feeling too
I could not yet sign up for the email list, saw the sign up page and closed it.
The tears came at that point.

If that wasn't the place where he passed I don't think I'd care but because it is it's too soon for me because this early isn't going to just be fans, there'll be a lot of rubbernecking.

I have felt a real heaviness since this was announced sad Dr. Funkenberry (I wish he had a better name lol ) mentioned that things Prince had planned for the museum wouldn't be in place in time & it all just amplifies that he's gone sad

I also feel it's too soon, but perhaps that's the whole point? To make people start talking about PP as a museum, concentrate on that and fan tours and the lot, while ending all this talk about his possible addiction.

Well lets be real the point is they need money asap & this way they have the interest of non-fans also so more people will want to go.

I will wait and see how it goes over the next year and if it's going well, I will definitely visit, but not until they've worked out the bugs and we know it's going to last.

He had an awards room..pics of it have been on the internet and obviously there are many items he kept..his motorcycle from PR etc..I think this is what he had in mind..And the alternative is to sell P.P. It should be preserved.

Anything to get the focus off his death and maybe get people into a happier place. That's why I can't wait for the tribute concert details to be announced. I want to be celebrating his life not obsessing over his death. That's why I had to stop posting in that other sticky thread. It was just putting me in a very bad place emotionally and physically.

Yes. I am flying into Minneapolis from West Virginia on 10/10. Staying until 10/15. Scheduling whatever I can now. Waiting on tickets sales. And I'm leaving the Mr. behind!!

I am sure they got a hefty chunk of change up front from the people who will run this. And the timing totally makes sense. They want it up and running so people coming for the memorial concert in October can visit Paisley Park, too.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I wonder if they'll allow photos or if they'll be annoying about it even after his death?

I was wondering that too, except for the annoying part. I'm thinking they won't allow photos. If people go and post photos of it all over the internet, then some people may feel they have already "seen" it, so they won't go in person.

Will go and visit years in the future. if its still open. I will never completely get over his death. Still in disbelief. Want it to be a music venue or music school, not a museum. Full of life with music flowing threw the building. Its a travesty. Just gathering dust.
