I think this is a good move from a business standpoint. The estate can start generating income to ensure that his legacy is preserved. This can help the estate hold onto Paisley Park and allow the fans the opportunity to experience it. yes

This is a little soon for me - sorry to be negative but I don't think I could walk through right now. Maybe in a year or so. But can anyone say "gift shop?"

Right, me too glad it's happening but I couldn't go yet. Too soon, too sad, but I will go eventually.

nod I'm curious to see how they coordinate the tours. Will they be daily? Certain days of the week? Ideally I'd like to do it either the day before or after the tribute. I guess we'll have to wait and see when these tix go on sale and hopefully it'll coordinate around the concert. Basically, I'm going that week either way lol Early birthday gift to myself

Certainly respect those who feel that for them, this is not something they are able, or desiring to participate in at least for right now. But I have to admit, I am one of the ones who found this to be somewhat good news, or at least something Prince related that gives me something to look forward to.

But what I found interesting/curious in the releases I read, was when it said an exclusive tour of the "main floor" of PP. Now, please know, I am NOT saying we should have wide open access to take a dump in P's private bathroom or whatever. But, if the tour really does only allow people on the "main floor" I find that a bit frustrating. I too am one of the many lucky ones here who had a chance to visit PP a few times. And for most of those visits, the main floor was already mostly open access. So now that we are in the situation we are in, there shouldn't be a reason to not include at least seeing the infamous "vault" that even the non-fans heard so much about after his death. Also, his office could be roped off and able to just be looked at from the doorway. Again, keeping the residence off the tour, I may not like it, but I can live with and understand. But some of these other areas that ARE related to his public persona should be available as they were not accessable before while he was alive, which again, I understood. But now, he is gone, and they have chosen to continue the Prince cash register, so, please recognize what would truly make this a new experience for everyone. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if his "family" didn't know that when he had parties there that the main floor was open for people to walk around and experience. Maybe they did. Maybe they were in attendance.

I'm not mentioning the things above to be at all ungrateful as I am obviously within my rights to not feel the need to do the tour if I have already seen the main floor including the studios, etc. But I am just saying that it just seems like if you are gonna open it up, then freaking open it up!! Maybe I am totally off base with this. Wouldn't be the first time! smile Hope everyone on here continues to experience healing from the loss that we all experience a few months back.

me too. seems like a visit now is going to be all about grieving, weeping, memorial rituals... whereas if it were later in a year or so, there would be time to allow things to settle more so more sense of celebration, less grief. I have a sense of emotional whiplash, for we just came through a week of painful revelations that took us back to his death scene and all the mysteries and unresolved questions and darkness of this. Seems so early and raw then to open the space up, will be less than 6 months after he passed that 1000s of people will be trampling (even respectfully) through... I do understand everyone is at different stages of processing, and I respect that the estate is under high pressure to monetize immediately. But I think this is also why it makes me feel uneasy, that basically it feels like monetizing the grieving process. erk! I'm sure it's not intentional, just feels heart bruising to see how this all converges. And yes, confusing too, as of course I want to be there in the space prince lived and worked, to feel it, see it, experience it. Just wish there was a period of rest first, now, to allow things resolve more around his death, and to allow time before this transition into its new life as tourist destination.

I am very happy about this. I get why people would think it's tasteless and that it’s profiting off of Prince's death. I understand why it would upset people. And even if Prince wanted this, we will never know what his vision was for Paisley Park, a place we know he loved. Will it honor him appropriately and respectfully? We know it could be awful, but it also could be wonderful. I will make the trip. I want to pay my respects, I want to go where he worked and played and created. The other thing is, I can go when I’m ready, and as many times as I want to, it will be there, Paisley Park will continue and it will be taken care of. That means a lot to me.

..Hello, who is it?
Yes, this is a prettyman, Princey!

I truly think Prince wouldve wanted this. and have it continue to host concerts and dance parties... Prince invested a lot into making it a space for the creation of music and the performance of music and it shouldnt go to waste. I would love to see it become one of the premiere small live music venues in the area for local and touring talent.

After the way Prince died (overdose by drugs), I don't think that any of us can say what we think he may have wanted, because clearly, none of us knew the man like we thought we did. Most of us would have put our heads on a chopping block to defend him, believing that he would never touch a drug, because we thought we knew him! Even those close to him, clearly didn't know him, because even they say that they never saw him do any kind of drugs, and saying how clean he lived his life! Sorry, but I would be leary of anyone that says that "this is what Prince would have wanted" because none of them really knows. Tyka and all the rest, were not close to Prince, and probably hadn't even saw him in years....who knows? Prince distanced himself from family years ago, and rarely, if ever, spoke of them. Most people didn't even know he had family. The truth is, we all know what's behind this, and that's the making of money!

None of us know either.

Thats my only concern. Is this going to be attractive enough for multiple visits??? Will it generate enough money to keep it going? I hope so, but i would visit early.

Why do people keep using the words cashing in as if the family is doing this so they can personally enrich themselves? Fact is there are bills and taxes to be paid and I doubt Prince had millions of dollars sitting in a bank or safe somewhere. It's going to take a lot of time to go through the vault and decide whar music should be released. That's the last thing anyone wants rushed. Yeah there are things they can do with his existing catalogue but is that going to bring in enoug income to pay all these bills and taxes and keep Paisley Park operational? The last thing any of us want is it having to be sold because the estate can't afford to maintain it. confused

My god.
This is all happening so fast. It's been less than 6 months since his passing and I still can't believe it's true that he's gone, but he's just money now. Not a real person that ever lived but an opportunity.

Just so fucking depressing.

I was there for the Celebration in 2000. Seeing Prince walk through the L4OA room, hearing him clear his throat across the large concert room when a friend and I were talking with one of the guards - looking over and seeing Prince staring at the guy like, "Hey, I'm over here", seeing him watching the crowd dancing and having fun from where he sat, or at the mix board. Going there without Prince won't ever be the same. I mean, I probably will, eventually, but I think it's going to take me a while before I can ever do it. I'd be breaking down and seeing him in the places I saw him during the Celebration. I just think it would be too hard, right now, especially. Maybe when I'm older and greyer I'll make a pilgrimage there before I leave, just to remember once again....

They aren't cashing in smh. Lots of big historic houses in England have to open to the public just to pay for their upkeep. I'd imagine the family didn't want to open this soon, but the multimillion dollar tax bill due in January has probably forced their hand.

The idea for a museum with the people who run Graceland is a smart one, it will preserve and keep Princes legacy alive and in tact. Graceland has always Ben on my bucket list , they run it professionally and Prisilla handed it over to these people because they know how to keep a legend alive with respect and love. However at what cost? A sovenier mug, a cheesy keychain? I mean Elvis was a more Vegas style so maybe that's why but I hope it doesn't turn Prince into a cartoon caracter. Graceland shows how Elvis lived, paisley park should show how Prince rocked. It will be lucrative for the city, the family, and will be a sad but lifelong place for us to visit and remember all the good times.
I'm happy but sad a little...
