You don't even know basic facts about Prince. According do Forbes and countless others "Prince sold more than 100 million albums during his lifetime, with that figure set to rise after his tragic passing." Do you know any niche artist that has sold this many records? Prince was a mainstream artist, ask those of us who have been following him for decades. He may have had highs and lows in sales, like all artists, but he ws mainstream. Everybody knew who Prince was.
Baby, you're a star.

Got my tickets for Friday!!! Wohoo. I was so anxious, I orginally bought 6 Gen. Admission tickets, then changed my mind and went back for me and my husband to instead do VIP. So I have 2 extra General Admission tickets to sell for the price I paid if anyone is intersted. It's for 11:10 on Friday, Oct. 14th. Let me know and spread the word if you dont mind. Thanks.

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

Here's the business plan. Sounds like recordings and concerts will continue in the future! biggrin Plan to be open from 10-10 on weekdays and 9-midnight on weekends depending on ticket demand and weather. Tour will be approx 70 minutes and cost $38.50 with a VIP tours available for $100 or more. Food and drink will be offered. No alcohol, no meat. http://67.63.229.140/webl...20Plan.pdf [Edited 8/24/16 14:32pm]

This can't be serious.

Must be just to get this open, but you can't run a museum for a longer period based on these few pages?

I'm assuming this is what they presented the city? confused I've never been to Graceland and don't know how it works all I've heard is the people running it do a really good job. Graceland gets about 600,000 people per year.

I ve been there. Im not an elvis fan, but it was impressive. I'm sure they can handle a thing like this. But still the business case looks to simple to me. There is no long term in it.

I understand. Maybe I would feel differently had not Prince actually died there, with the thought of him dying in the elevator. I mean, I've never been there, but I'm sure that if they have a tour, that the elevator will be visible, and what fan would not think of that as soon as they see it? To me, that's just sad and heartbreaking. I've always wanted to go to Paisley Park, but that was to see Prince, alive, doing what he did best, perform. I'm sorry, but I don't want to go there now, just to look at instruments that he once played, clothing he used to wear, electronics he once recorded on, hanging posters of his face, trophies he received, etc.......for what? To me, those are just things now that once belonged to a man that's no longer here, that life for him is over! He will never return to that life! I don't mean to be harsh, or upset anyone, but that's how I view things. It just doesn't mean anything to me now.

we talked about this a few months back. if it were me i'd renovate the elevator area. remove the actual elevator and put it somewhere it can never be found.

then take the space where it was and install a spiral staircase with a matching hanging crystal chandelier. just my 2c.

i get where you're coming from. for those of us who experienced events at PP, nothing else will ever measure up. just, shadows on the wall compared to what prince was like, and how the Park was, back when he was with us

[Edited 8/24/16 17:33pm]

Yes. They need to do something about it. That would just be way too much for me. sad sad

WOW! I am sooo glad this property is not being sold and the Estate is turning this into a tour site! I look forward to attending in the future! The residents love him down there so this will make a ton of money for the Estate as well as the fans that will fly in.

Has anyone been to the site?? I just left it, VIP gets special photo ops. They are only selling tickets for 2016 at this point. So I'm wondering if they are going to do some remodeling at the beginning of the year.

Thank You Prince

i think it would be a cool visual, maintain access to the 2nd floor, and keep energy moving in that space. i'm afraid that if left where it is, the elevator could become something too weird on the tour

I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

I'm one of the "always wanted to go" bunch, but in my case it won't happen for the foreseeable. I'm the sole carer for my ill husband, so to you "actions talk, bs walks", in my case it's "family first".

I'm happy for all those who get to go, even though it's bittersweet.

Amen! I was 14 when I first started planning so couldn't go then and have been barely earning a living wage for most of adult life. I'm finally seeing some success in my new business and can afford the trip. I wish I'd been there a million times already but it couldn't happen. Don't pass judgement on those who couldn't be there before now. We all have our own paths to walk. Whether or not you were at PP before Prince left us isn't a measure of the love and respect for him. He wouldn't have passed that judgement on anyone so instead of knocking people down, let's honor his memory by supporting each other and holding each other up during this rough time. I'm pretty sure THAT'S what he would have wanted.

Did you even read any of the posts in here? A lot of us are not excited and think it is way too soon and just a way to make fast cash. A trip to Paisley Park without Prince just seems wrong. Don't think he would have approved. But I guess he had no will, so......

I got my VIP tickets for October 6th. It's going to be a very weird experience for me. I don't think I'm ready to go back in there, but I definitely want to see all the memorabilia and I don't want it to be second hand news.

-- You have at least two generations of people who have no concept of basic economics. The building cannot sit unused and it cannot have free events. Even Prince's events were not free because he had bills to pay. The family does not have Prince's touring money anymore they will get disbursements from royalties but in why should they use that money to keep a empty building open. Now is a good time to do it while the public is still interested. Let the family try this out thus far I think they are honoring their brother. I do not think his sisters loss of weight or his cousins red rimmed eyes were faked. I think they are hurting and the attacks they are getting are unfair.

This. We can all be way too judgemental at times. Give the family a break and see how it goes.

Elvis Presley's Graceland charges a fee too., This is what Prince wanted. Bills do need to be paid until the estate settles things. Unreal.
I want to walk the halls Prince walked and feel his spirit. Instead of bitching it's too soon, support the man's dream.

I'm going Oct 13th @ noon. Coincidentally that day is my 45th bday. I was at the last show here in Atlanta, front row and I took it as a sign that the memorial show was being held on my birthday so I booked VIP tickets to Paisley. I'm hoping to find some closure in all of this. 😢

Kind of considering adding to regular tickets too. hmmm lol yay!

FP, I got mine same day but at 11 a.m. I'll be leaving just as you get there. I went VIP, of course. I hope there'll be other orgers on my tour.

I thought about going earlier but want to account for any travel delays as I arrive that morning and would be right LIVID if something made me miss my PP tour!! NO ONE would want to be on that train, plane or automobile with me if that was happening. fryingpan chair uzi lol

Hopefully we can meet in passing.

I have another idea for Paisley Park i will be suggesting this weekend too biggrin I'l post that in the one in the fan gathering though so not to get anyone throwing brick at me up in here. lol cool

Bought my tickets to be there on my birthday. Been in purple love forever. First concert in the 80"s and many, many more since. Always wanted to go to First Avenue and never did. Could not pass this up. Just to be in the place that has his spirit. Like sacred ground to me. An honor to beloved Prince (R.I.P.) and something I will hold in my heart forever. Can hardly wait.

I'm wondering how exactly this is going to work out. As a museum, are people just going to look around and while Prince's music is playing, people are only going to hear it over the speakers and not dance and have a party? Or is there is going to be a place where live music will be playing and people can enjoy themselves? Are future artists going to record there? I would rather have Paisley Park be an interactive museum where creativity still flourishes, that's the best way to honor Prince instead of just having his belongings on display while people simply look around. As far as his private bedroom etc., I would rather have that locked and away from the public. It also seems that the investigation has ended since the launch of this museum is just around the corner.

As a lifelong Prince fan still shocked and saddened by his passing, I am pleased about this decision. To me, it is an opportunity to pay my respects and step into his spiritual and creative home. What an honor.

I bought a VIP ticket today for October 13, and will be flying in from Boston for the occasion. It will be my first time at Paisley Park, or Minneapolis for that matter - and I will consider it carthatic - a way to help me heal and also offer my thanks, even silently. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to walk the same floors as Prince in his home studio. I'll be in town for 3 days, and plan to visit 1st Avenue and other famous Prince places, and hopefully will attend the tribute concert.

I can understand why many think it's too soon. Maybe it is. But the people who will attend are Prince fans who loved him. To me, it's like a kind of wake and I want to thank him for the years and hours of joy, escape, comfort and excitement he gave me.

I hope to meet some of you there.
