The pills in Florida are disguised to look like oxycodone, Percocet or Xanax, but are actually made with fentanyl, a powerful and dangerous drug 50 times more potent than morphine. Similar counterfeit pills, made to look like Norco hydrocodone medication, are blamed for at least ten deaths and dozens of overdoses in the Sacramento, California area in recent weeks.

exactly why i will stick tp my time released morphone for my chronic pain. no thanku!! big diff tho is i am lucky enuf to have an amazimg pain mgt dr who understands my level of pain smd makes needed adjustments. my heart is bresking all over agsin. i know what he was feeling snd that shit ismt fun.

Do doctors ever give pain meds as samples? I've not had one do this before but they have given me other meds to either use until we see how I react or until the prescription is filled. Or for something they they'd only give one of.

I just think the missing doctor plays into this. And...do we know he's really gone AWOL? We know he left his job almost immediately and no one has been able to reach him, but that doesn't mean that LE hasn't interviewed him or that they don't know where he is.

If the doctor gave him a sample it wouldn't have the Fentanyl.

So the mystery is that there was no prescription for Fentanyl or Hydrocodone.

Hard enough 2 take in & deal with the fact he's gone. Last 4 months have been added torture. All the dropping hints, half stories & clandestine behaviour etc is starting 2 feel cruel & perverse. And didn't they say it's not even a full time investigation.

I am concerned that if Carver County is not investigating this full time that the source of the fake

hydrocodone pills will never been found. This sounds like a murder investigation and who works a murder investigation part time? I also find it interesting that we still do not know if the lidocaine and alprazolam (xanax) were the Rx's that Dr. S wrote for Prince. What other drugs was he taking because these pain meds cannot be mixed with other drugs with out horrible side effects and we still have hordes of people saying he did not seem high.

It really looks like someone may have slipped him something since they are calling it accidental.

eek

This is exactly what I am thinking and it happened in Atlanta first.

Exactly. And I don't see how alleged wanna-be's and acquaintances would believe an unprompted offer of dodgy pills would be a great way to score points with a famously anti-drug health foodie.

Have you ever actually known, and witnessed day to day over months or YEARS even, a chronic pain sufferers daily battles and how pain can wear a person down physically and mentally? I have been anti-drug ALL MY LIFE (I'm in my late 40s) but in the last years things have gotten bad enough for me that I've started taking anti anxiety medication because I wanted some relief and could find it no other way. Years ago I had to have surgery due to a severe form of a disease and before the surgery, i was in such intense daily pain I was considering all sorts of things I never would have before and when I look back at those days, it feels like a nightmare to me. Stating what an anti-drug health foodie type Prince was before his pain got so all consuming doesn't mean much (to me) when I understand how chronic pain that's chipping away at your life will alter a person and what they might consider in the name of RELIEF.

amen to that!!!!!!!

Seems the original report back in April from more "sources" said a bottle of pills were found either at the scene or on Prince. Don't recall ever reading or hearing about a heart condition. Another article heading said the pills were mislabeled. Perhaps these were someone else's RX, purchased online, or mix-up at the pharmacy? He was however, willing to receive either treatment or pain management help. Not buying he was a junkie, but don't think he was murdered or a suicide either. As other's have said, combined with the other drugs already in his system could have been the lethal combination. So sorry for the speculation...was thinking out loud.

Most common sense explanation.

The only unclear aspects of the situation are "Who gave him the supposed hydrocone?", "Why did his Minnesota doctor get barred from practicing and is laying low?" and "why was he left alone".

I think its kind of common sense what Prince was up to as well as the fact that the fentanyl was not what he intended to take. The guestion is what were his people up to?

Is it possible the Minnesota doctor (who P would have trusted) in a desperate attempt to please his client purchased the pills illegally and quickly?. Or is it back to Johnson desperately purchasing the hydrocone for prince unknowingly giving him lethal pills. I am just glad most people are no longer thinking Prince was killed by close associates on purpose. But both Prince and some of the folks around him really fvcked up.

I don't understand his being alone. You would think at least one other living soul would be on the grounds somewhere. Security someone. But maybe the size of the facility meant finding him in a elevator wasn't going to be as easy as we assume? Never been there obviously.

Clothes on backwards - he had a doctor's appointment earlier that day. He probably felt like shit all day due to withdrawal, and just threw them on any which way after the appointment. Also, his clothes were really relaxed/casual that day, and it didn't exactly have an obvious front and back, so I doubt it really mattered which way they went on. And that would explain why he bothered with socks.

For those thinking someone dressed him after murdering him, don't you think they'd at least try to get his clothes on right if they were bothering to dress him? And why would they bother dressing him if wasn't wearing clothing?

Prince was probably feeling very agitated all day, very uncomfortable from withdrawal symptoms, and his resolve broke at the end of the day. I doubt very much that a doctor seeing him about withdrawal symptoms would prescribe pain meds to him. Perhaps the doctor gave him xanax for the anxiety associated with withdrawal, and maybe some topical lidocaine for localised pain relief.

Then at the end of the day, feeling desperate, Prince knew someone who could get him illicit pills, and begged them to help him out. They did, and perhaps the only party that knew the drugs contained fentynyl were the manufacturers in Mexico, or China or wherever. He took as many as he would normally take if they were hydrocodone, and we know the result.

[Edited 8/21/16 10:59am]

OR he bought what he thought was Hydrocodone online, himself.

.

Again, it seems that Fentanyl is cheap - and that the fake Hydrocodone pills are being cut with it. Maybe he went online, purchased what he thought were legitimate Vicodin, albeit from an unscrupulous / illegal source - and this is what happens.

Oh, I know that it "shouldn't" have been fentanyl. I'm just wondering if docs actually give samples for pain meds at all.

So, if your doctor gives you a sample in the office, and then doesn't write a prescription, then you would not have a prescription for said medication. But is this within normal practice for pain meds is my question.

It's hard to believe a doctor is involved in this in any way. But the doctor left his job immediately and has not yet begun to practice medicine anywhere else and I find that to be a bit disturbing.

Maybe it was the combonation that would have got him if this stuff was not mis-labled but it was and I still cannot imaingine Prince buying something off the internet or from a stranger. This guy had major trust issues by his own admission. Please see the article below about an arrest this week in Prince William County Virgina. This guy was a medical doctor and he was involved with a ring selling fake Xanax that was actuallyHydrocodone pain meds. The police actually asked him to stop prescribing the Xanax as he might have a batch of fake pills and he kept right on. I keep wonder if Dr S or Kirk or involved.

Also something that I just caught is the reports from May were stating Prince didn't have a prescription for any opiates.

Authorities said they have not found a valid prescription for opioid medication, either on Prince's person or at Paisley Park. The evidence found so far doesn't suggest that Prince was "doctor shopping" -- or seeking prescriptions from multiple doctors -- as has happened in other prominent celebrity deaths, law enforcement officials said previously.
Instead, investigators are focused on the possibility that so-called "drug runners" were obtaining the medications for Prince.
CNN.com May 11, 2016
Then we have this from yesterday's article .
Pills marked as hydrocodone that were seized from Paisley Park after Prince’s overdose death actually contained fentanyl, the powerful opioid that killed him, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Prince did not possess a prescription for fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that has been described as 100 times more powerful than morphine, the source said.

Despite the finding, investigators still aren’t certain how the 57-year-old megastar ingested the fentanyl. However, they are leaning toward the theory that he took the pills not knowing they contained the drug.

Notice how the narrative changed ?

It is not saying now that he didn't have a prescription for Hydrocodone in the article yesterday.

If he did have a prescription and there were pills marked Hydrocodone and they were actually Fentanyl we have a huge problem.

But could Prince get it that quickly online? I am assuming the percocet from taken away from him after the overdose (and remants were left in his system). the other medications were probably prescribed and (I don't buy the lethal cocktail argument). Going by this article, I am convinced the fentanyl killed him. So therefore, he either discovered "hydrocodone" laying around from an online purchase and just hadn't taken any yet. Or he desperately had people searching around for hydrocodone (a quack doctor or less than bright friend?) Or maybe he purchased a few days before and didn't tell anyone and was trying not to take it but eventually gave in anyway.

But then again, wouldn't the police have been able to hack into his computer and find the online transaction. they apparently have not yet.

Well not knowing hasn't stopped you from projecting your addiction experience stories onto P. You said yourself that your knowledge is personal but I'm wondering if it was as an addict, dealer or both? I ask because you keep implying that the rest of us are ignorant and in denial.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I cannot imagine Prince ordering anything online, waiting for the package, then intercepting the box from his office. IMO the pills were brought to him by someone he knew.

Someone he knew and someone he trusted. Where is the grand jury for this case? I hope his family is looking into this case.

Regarding a heart condition: Wasn't there an incident in the 90s where Mayte found Prince slumped on a couch after he had taken some medication for heart palpitations with wine? confused

Louder than God's revolver and twice as shiny wildsign
