He also says
When it comes to perfume, I, it's on the shelf I get it down, if ain't nobody around
I, I, I smell myself..
It sounds more like a confession than lyrics!

The fiddle playing part in the Face Down video made me laugh.
His Kurt Loder interview was funny.
The Canadian interview with the audience during which a dude asked him how he defined "real Music". To which Prince answered with the question: "Do you have a concert ticket?: After the audience laughed, he said "No that's horrible and narcissistic" and then turned back to camera with mock desperation and asked "But you do have a concert ticket?" In the same interview, he teased a guy who asked him about the music in his fault. He looked him up and down and with mock suspicion said "I am just seeing if you fit the profile of a bootlegger." Great interview.

People are confusing the nature of his sense of humor (which was a briliantly quick, dry, deadpan wit, yes) with the corny, immature antics he learned very early on as a tool to either gain attention, pass time, or charm others.
Those are two very different things. |
