Sea of Everything I really love this ballad, with its tranquil yet profound beauty, like a softer version of Call My Name with vocals reminiscent of some 70's slow jams. I feel this is a very overlooked song.

I like it apart from the line 'I read your letter, every word, no one writes better, at least not that I heard' - it just seems a bit clumsy and lazy. . Plus it makes me stop enjoying the song while I try and work out if it's correct English and makes sense. I'm still unsure

I'd love to know what/who this is about though. In terms of lyrics, I've heard a lot worse. Life Matters

It's worth taking the time to listen to it until the end, because there is a really good vocals build up at the end. Reminds me of those great Motown ballads. Life Matters

I agree with you, Cherrymoon. It really is such a lovely song with beautiful lyrics and a wonderful melody. It seems that any song that Prince does that has minimal funk or edge just doesn't get the love that his other songs do from a segment of his fans. I get it, as his incredibly funky and edgy style is a huge draw for me too. That said, it makes his ballads and even his few "easy listening" songs work so well as they provide a wonderful counterbalance to his other music. IMO, they also generate a fuller array of musical experiences to enjoy.

Thank you, glad it's not just me! Yes - to all of that - and I think this musical diversity also mean that there is a song for every mood or circumstance. Life Matters

He took the time to listen attentively and lovingly. :luv:

i agree that it's a clumsy line, but it's one of favs from that album. i don't think 20ten got much love when it was released but i think it is more consistant as a whole album than 3121. one of my favorites of the 00s. Prince #MUSICIANICONLEGEND

To be honest I hadn't paid much attention to this album either at the time, but I find myself coming back to it more often lately and love it more at each listen, there are a lot of very strong tracks on it. Life Matters

It's an absolutely BEAUTIFUL track! The clean vocal at the end melts me - just pure, naked, gorgeous. Just got my hands on 20TEN in recent months, so I flipped out most at Walk In Sand & this one, love the way they link together. & the way he lingers on "or will you settle for a Priiiiince" STELLAR SONG

This is my most disliked track on the album, maybe even of all Prince tracks. Not sure how far back I'd have to go to find something I dislike more. Completely erased it from any versions of 20Ten to which I listen. I'd rather listen to Jughead and possibly even Purple & Gold. RIP

Ouch, sounds just a tad extreme to me EnglishGent. But it's ok, you're totally entitled to your opinion (hence this thread) and I see that you are quite consistent with the older thread, so fair enough, which at the same time also answers my last question in the OP. You might like to know that this is also my 7 year old daughter's least favourite track on this album and she kept asking me to skip it! Her favourite on the album is Compassion and Everybody Loves me (my least favourite). It's interesting how everyone perceives Prince music very differently. Life Matters
