so in answer to your question, even Tom Petty and the rest of the musicians that were on stage do not know where the guitar went, because it never came down.

I do!! When you get your dates pinned down let me know - I'd love to get together!! I think all of my friends are sick of my P talk, and my hubby never got him to begin with, so that's a big part of what brought me here - all of you guys!!

There really isn't a hotel that directly overlooks First Ave - the closest is probably the Loews Minneapolis Hotel, kind of across the street (it's a weird intersection). The Marquette, about two blocks away is the next closest. But anywhere downtown is good; pretty much everything is walking distance, if you're OK with walking. I was downtown a while ago and walked over to First Ave just to see it again - people were still leaving flowers there; still sad (as is PP, which I also visited two weeks ago...again!)

Anyway - keep me posted!
