Just because he might not have always mentioned Prince doesn't mean he wasn't an influence. Prince didn't always mention Hendrix but we know he was clearly an influence.

True! He tried to keep us away from comparing them, by mentioning Carlos Santana as a bigger influence. But it's pretty obvious that he has taken more than a few "lessons" from Hendrix? Was he disrespectul? No. He was a bit protective maybe, and wanted to be known as an original.

I read an article somewhere where the interviewer mentioned "Hendrix", and Prince said he never compared himself to "Jimi Hendrix" and never said he was inspired by him -- he said their styles were "totally" different.
