There is an interview where he did not mention Prince as an influence. He only mentioned stevie wonder, mj. This was a little after the incident. I cant believe P's little, sexy never left comment drove him to act out like that. It wasn't even a diss on P's part. Im glad P paid him dust.
Just because he might not have always mentioned Prince doesn't mean he wasn't an influence. Prince didn't always mention Hendrix but we know he was clearly an influence.
True! He tried to keep us away from comparing them, by mentioning Carlos Santana as a bigger influence. But it's pretty obvious that he has taken more than a few "lessons" from Hendrix? Was he disrespectul? No. He was a bit protective maybe, and wanted to be known as an original. |

This was while he was promoting Future sex love soumds.. that album is 100% Prince influenced. Is ridiculous not to mention him, he did it to spite him. Well at least P mentioned Hendrix in his later years. i think i want ya |

Isn't this more about JT than Prince? Replace the JT with MJ and this thread would be closed as soon as it was opened. I guess the mods ain't threatened by JT then |

I read an article somewhere where the interviewer mentioned "Hendrix", and Prince said he never compared himself to "Jimi Hendrix" and never said he was inspired by him -- he said their styles were "totally" different. Yea, but JT dissed Prince not too long ago. If you recall that time when JT came out with "Sexy back", and Prince made the comment "Sexy never left." Then, JT came out with a song and the lyrics referenced Prince (where are you on the charts? Oh right, you weren't there".......that was low-down dirty. I'm not a huge JT fan, but after he said that, I kinda lost interest in him.
Uh when he said the lyric where are you on the charts? damn that''s right you wasn't there. He was speaking about Janet Jackson. The first line before that is can you speak a little louder. Janet is known for her soft spoken whispering voice. And he was referring to her album 20 years old which didn't chart very well and her appearance on Oprah when Oprah asked her did she still feel some type a way about JT over the superbowl incident and she said loyalty is very important to her being JT still stuck a nerve with her 2 years after. During this time she hadn't spoken to Justin since the incident and tried to reach out to her, but she hadn't forgiven him and wanted to get pissed off because he felt she have just gotten over it just like that.
The line about Prince is the following: You said Sexy never left then why is everybody on my shit. Don't hate on me because you didn't come up with it. |

Timberlake is a grain of sand compared to the desert of brilliance that was our man. Kiddy music. In fairness to him, he wouldn't have his karaoke career without P or Jackson, for that matter. |
